Skyfire has announced a public beta for their web browser that promises to bring the "real" web to Windows Mobile powered smartphones.

The company is previewing the web browser at the DEMO conference. Windows Mobile users can sign up to be part of the public beta. Registration requires your email address and mobile phone number. According to Skyfire, this information is only being used to deliver the software and it is not shared. Apple's Safari that comes standard on the iPhone, is the only commercially released mobile phone to bring desktop level browsing to smartphones. Skyfire reportedly trumps the iPhone's browser, offering support for Flash and advanced AJAX. Skyfire supports the full versions of YouTube, Facebook and MySpace. "For too long, consumers have been promised the 'real Web' on their phone, only to be disappointed by slow rendering, error messages, no Flash support, watered down WAP pages, or second-rate mobile versions of their favorite site. Skyfire has remedied those ills at a speed not seen before on the mobile platform." said Nitin Bhandari, Skyfire's CEO, in a statement.

The company also claims that Skyfire will load content faster than any existing mobile browsers available today. While WAP versions are often designed for mobile phones, their desktop counterparts are designed for large monitors. Similar to the iPhone, Skyfire offers the ability to zoom in and out, something that is necessary when rendering desktop versions of the web on a mobile phone.

Skyfire's homepage shows the browser on a Motorola Q 9h, an encouraging sign for the Q community.
