Motorola Releases Sprint Q MOL3 Update

July 28, 2007
By: Christopher Meinck

Motorola has released an update for the Sprint Moto Q. The update also known as MOL3 is now available for download from Motorola's website.

The software update will largely return your Q settings to a "new" condition. Personal information like contacts and calendar will be backed up. The Motorola Software Update cannot back up and restore third party applications. You will most likely need to reload third-party applications, reset ringtones and re-establish personal settings including email settings. It is recommended that you read through the guidelines offered by Motorola before starting the software update.

Download Sprint Q MOL3 software update.

You can discuss the update in the Official Sprint MOL3 Software Update discussion.

The update wipes the phone clean but it restores contacts and calendar. Everything else as far as settings and apps need to be reinstalled. As far as I can tell after a week of use with the update, the phone is running a bit smoother and the battery is lasting about 20% longer.

After updating can anyone tell me what revision number shows on their phone? I have 30 plus MotoQ users and I need to ask them to check their revision number and then determine if they need the ugprade.

Thank you!

When I plug my Q into my computer, it asks for a driver. The Software updater will not recognize the Q unless this driver is installed. Do I have to install the ActiveSync CD to get the driver installed?

KC, you can download activesync from Microsoft's website and yes you'll need it installed prior to running the updateer.
