Motorola Q 9h Hands On

June 1, 2007
By: Christopher Meinck

The Boy Genius Report managed to get their hands on the upcoming Moto Q 9h. Along with providing a gallery of photos, they found noticable improvements over the orginal Moto Q.

Yes, we definitely got our hands on the new unreleased Motorola Q9h! First off the top is the noticable improvements over the first Motorola Q (CDMA). The keyboard — just wow! The feel of the unit is great, with speaker volume and quality on par or better than pretty much any Windows Mobile 6 Standard device. Yes even that one. Signal strength doesn't look to suffer here, as we're picking up lunar transmissions (just kidding). Call quality is also good too when using on AT&T. It really sounds pleasant to talk to someone over this. One of the stupidest issues with the first Q, and some other smartphones, is that the camera application was never full screen. Motorola has corrected that with the new Q9h and I have to say I'm kind of diggin' it!

The Moto Q 9h shown was tested on AT&T Wireless, the photos do not show any carrier logo on the device itself. We assume they will be the wireless carrier when it becomes available in the US. No official word from Motorola on when it will be available. Additionally, we've seen this device named the Moto Q 9 and Moto Q 9h. As soon as we receive clarification on the product name and availability, we'll update our readers.

The biggest problem with Windows Q and Blackjack was that too many applications got left open, and the machine would eventually start acting funny. For those of use who prefer user-friendly machines like Blackberries, this was a huge issue, and led to many returns for those who thought they could save on buying a BEZ by getting a microsoft device.

So any thoughts on that? Cuz that's what matters, not camera screen size or keyboard.
