Unable to write to Q except with wmp

Just checked within File Manager.

None of the folders:

Application Data
Music
Storage Card

are marked read only, nor system nor any of the four checkboxes.

why not copy and paste when you explore with active sync

That's what I've been trying to do. I connect the Q to the pc, wait for ActiveSync to say it's happy, then click Explore. I switch to Folders view and all of the screenshots above were taken within that view. Am I doing something incorrectly?

have you tried to not use folders view and just use the regular view and then have another windows with the files you want and copy and paste that way...no drag and drop

I had to add the Q to the Send To list, and something interesting happened.

If I Send To the Mobile Device, it will send the file (and convert it as necessary.) It sends the file to the onboard memory, not the storage card. If I try to add the storage card or one of its folders to Send To, I get this when I right-click:

Not sure what to make of that. It's like it's looking for a subfolder or some final destination.

BSG rules! That's like barely halfway through season 2... anyways, back to topic.
So I'm guessing you don't have an SD card reader for your PC then? I don't have a memory card for my Q9c cause I just got it today..

Just got off the phone. Long call.

It turns out using 2 windows was the key. I have always used a single window in Explorer. It never occured to me to try dragging between two of them. But I've tried it and works.

I don't know what the difference is. My guess is that once I hit the Folders button Active Sync 'gives up' the window to Explorer and I can no longer interact with the phone within that window.

(And yes, it's an old episode. I wanted something that would be a lightweight distraction for when I have time to kill. 'Lightweight' and 'BSG' seldom go together... )
