New Q - Cant Sync with ActiveSync

I am trying to Sync with Active Sync.

I installed it on my PC (XP Pro)
Rebooted
Connected USB
Icon says: Connecting
After a while it comes back and says:

I check firewall settings and all good.

Any tips?

Welcome to the club. I have been fighting with the Q and Active Sync for a while.

Are you running any Personal Firewall (McAfee, Norton, etc)?

If you haven't tried this it may be worth a try. If sync on pc shows a device delete the device in the file menu. I had an issue last night and thats all I had to do to get it going again. Once I plugged my Q back in it auto added it and synced with no problems. Also I know the first time I tried to sync I used a usb port not directly connected to the motherboard and had a sync issue. I then plugged into the usb port straight from the motherboard and sync with no issue. May not be related but easy to try.

Sync on PC shows no device.

I do File > Connection Settings and do "Connect" and it runs through the different COM ports (1, 2, 3, USB, IR, etc) and it tells me...

"Your device was not detected", but, on the screen is shows COM3 Available, IR Port Available, and USB (which is how the device is connected) Available.

It tells me to verify the connection is available (which I guess it is, my phone is plugged into the USB).

I do the check again. Nothing.

Very frustrating.

I solved my issue. In my case there seems to have been two issues.

First, The USB port on my laptop seems to be squirely. When I switched it to a different one. I got connected but it was intermittent and unreliable.

Second, I turned off the "Advanced" option for the USB in the Q
Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC

Un-check "Enable Advanced Network Functionality"

It's been running like a champ ever since.
