Dulpicate contacts and calendar entries - Motorola Q Forum

How can I avoid the duplicate contacts and calendar entries on my Q and in MS outlook 2003? I have at least 2 entries of all my contacts on my phone. I want to be able to sync them up without duplicating.

how did you get 2 entries of each contact?
did you sync it and thats what happened?
are you using active sync AND wireless sync? (if your a verizon customer)

I just sync'd up. I was using active sync and wireless sync. Maybe that was the problem. I since turned off the wireless sync, but I haven't tried again.

Is there a way to remove all contacts and sync up again, or do I have to do it one at a time?

yea thats why
if you have active sync sync contacts and wireless sync sync contacts you will have dups

if you have everything on your PC all up to date you can delete the partnership with your Q in active sync then plug the Q in again and it will erase the Q of contacts/calendars/and email that it sync'd from outlook and start over (you might loose some data that wireless sync put on your phone...it gets kinda hairy when you start mixing them)

just make sure you use either wireless sync OR active sync try not to use both
but if you do use both then just uncheck the stuff in either active sync or wireless sync that you dont want to use
make sense?

example: you want to sync contacts directly from the PC but NOT wireless sync then check contacts in active sync and uncheck contacts in wireless sync

I'm not sure what happened, but I lost all my MS outlook contacts and had to back up using my Q. The problem is the Q then put all the duplicates in outlook along with separate contacts for email and mobile numbers for all records. I went in and cleaned it up and it also cleaned up my Q (Attached USB and Active sync was running). I then made a change to one contact on my PC and all the records duplicated again on my Q. I am only using active sync, not wireless sync. I don't know what is going on.

did you turn off contacts on wireless sync before making any changes...since wireless sync syncs over the air any changes are documented...

yes. Wireless is turned off. I'm getting triplicates and quadruplicates when syncing up via active sync. I used Jeyo Mobile Companion to delete all my contacts on the Q, but as soon as I sync they all come back with another copy. It's very odd.

that is odd...never had to deal with anything like that
im not sure what is going on...
what you could do...is delete all your Q contacts
make sure you PC outlook is up to date
then go in to active sync and delete all partnerships with the Q and then plug the Q in again and sync all over again...it should delete all calendar items/contacts and such

Im experiencing the same problem. Everytime I sync my outlook gets more duplicate contacts. How do I delete all my contacts in my q phone so I can sync with outlook ?
I want to delete all my conatcts from my phone and not 1 by 1 ?

Yes can anybody tell me how I can delete all my contacts on my Q and start again fresh
