Default Can Activesync do this?

Folks, Have a laptop and a new Q9m. The laptop runs Outlook and downloads all my email using POP/SMTP from the SBC-Yahoo server and deletes it off the server. Activsync 4.5 keeps the email synch'ed between the laptop and Q9m.

What I would like to do is roll out of bed in the morning, grab the Q9m, download (and delete from the server) new emails, immediately respond back to a few, then much later synch the messages on the Q9m and the laptop.

It appears the 9Qm and Activesync support mail accounts that are synch'ed and accounts that use POP/SMTP but they do not support mail accounts that do both.

Am I missing something here? Is there an easy fix? If Activesych doesn't do what I want to do, are there other programs that do?

Thanks.
Chuck

Folks, It's been several days. A number of folks have viewed and moved on without saying anything. So I expect it's one of three things:

1. The solution is obvious and I just don't see it.

2. It's been discussed at length elsewhere.

3. It hasn't been done before, it's impossible or can't be done.

I really expect it is number 3. But it would be reassuring to have confirmation.

Well Activesync istself doesn't support pop/smtp, its simple a connector between the phone and outlook, outlook is what does the pop/smtp.
Why not set outlook to leave mail on the server then you can still get it on the Q in the morning.

Sorry if it's as clear as mud. Here's what I'm trying to do.

Right now Outlook on my laptop downloads and removes email messages from my service provider's POP/IMAP server. Activesync synchronizes the Outlook folders with those in the Outlook account on my Q9m. What I would like to do is add one more logical leg to this process. I would like to use the Q9m to also download and remove messages from the service provider's POP/IMAP server and place the messages into the Q9m's Outlook account folders. Then Activesync could keep everything synchronized between the two devices.

Unfortunately the Q9m Outlook email account does not have POP/IMAP capability. A new email account is required for POP/IMAP support on the Q9m and Activesync only works with the Outlook account.

Verizon's Wireless Sync does place everything in the Q9m Outlook folders but Activesync does not process any messages placed there by Wireless Sync. So anything that is placed on the Q9m by Wireless Sync is invisible to Activisync. It's very frustrating to be this close yet so far away from the solution.

I've just begun the initial dance with Verizon's Wireless Sync support folks. Based upon our intial email exchange it will be a while before we get to a resolution if at all.

This would require I leave my laptop on all the time which is not the case. I would like to receive and respond to emails when on the road and the laptop is snuggled in it's briefcase. Once the laptop is turned on sync'ing make sense. The laptop has all the folders, documents, and pictures.

Good idea though.

I thought you were syncing your laptop with an office PC. Didn't realize the laptop was the PC you are syncing with.

if your Outlook downloads and removes all your emails from the server.. How will q9m get your emails? There is nothing to sync.

You can leave a copy on the server and then setup a new pop/imap account on your q9m and send/receive emails that way. When you open outlook you'll also get a copy of the messages there.

The idea is when my laptop is turned off the Q9m is used to download (and delete) messages from the server. Then once the laptop is powered up, the Q9m and the laptop sync up.
