Gerlach... I'm having the exact same frustration, except I have two pop accounts where this is the case. I feel like I'm paying an extra $40 per month for nothing.

Understand the frustration. Right now I have two email accounts set up, one uses Activesync to sync with Outlook on my Laptop PC and the other is a POP/SMTP account. When I'm on the road (or just waking up), I use the POP account to get a preview of my email and to make quick replies. Once I fire up the laptop, all my emails are downloaded and reviewed. I potentially get to see every email twice. Not a perfect solution but a workaround.

Going forward when I have time I'm going to take a good look at the Q9m registry entries for these two email accounts. Want to see if there is any way to hack the Outlook account to handle both Activesync and POP/SMTP. From a high level they look like they are mutually exclsusive but it's worth a look.

And what's the point syncing mails? I got only contacts and tasks synced. Not inbox. If I get an email it gets either in the Q or on my PC when it's on.

i sync mail becuase it allows me to keep my emails with me in folders that i have setup on my PC
i get my email in my POP account on the Q...then i keep or delete them depending if i want to save them
the ones i keep get put in to outlook when i get home and turn outlook on...then when i sync...the folders that i selected in active sync for outlook go to my Q

make sense?

atleast thats how i do it

the only thing that sucks is when i reply to emails i cant sync my 'sent' items

so what i do is make myself a BCC: if it important enough so i have a copy and i can get it to the PC

And that's why I want one email account on my Q9m that does both, activesync and POP/SMTP.

I thought I would chime in and say I understand and am lost at the same time. Never thought that would happen reading all threads in a post.

I think i have an answer for you, although i haven't tried it yet.

1) PC using outlook to download email from a POP/IMAP acount (guess you do it already)

2) go to www.mobipush.com (free for now) and create and account with your POP/IMAP email

3) Use the Exchange configuration provided by mobipush in your moto Q

4) Run Activesync (on the Q) to download the mail from your POP/IMAP account to your Outlook email folder on the Q

5) Sync your Phone and PC using activesync

Good luck... hope it can help...
