Default ActiveSync won't detect my phone

Hello,

I have a Moto Q (Windows Mobile 5) and Microsoft ActiveSync can't seem to detect the phone.
It just stays at the "Connecting" screen.

I've uninstalled ActiveSync and deleted everything and then reinstalled, but it still does the same thing.

Is it because of this?:
My first Moto Q broke but they sent me a new one. I'm currently using the new one. Is there something I have to do extra since it's a brand new phone? (I've already reinstalled ActiveSync after I got the new phone)

My OS is Windows XP Professional.

Please let me know if you know how to fix this.

Thanks.

Could you post what you did to fix the problem? just in case someone has the same problem in the future (and decides to search). Since there are several ways of fixing most problems new information may be able to help someone else. Thanks!

It was my AntiVirus Software.

I have ESET and I got fed up so I just completely uninstalled it.
It was probably not allowing USB connections.

After that, it worked right away.

I have had a similar issue, but my USB cable was the culprit. I'm currently using the cable from my digital camera and have not had any issues.

Sent from my Q

try to use serial mode instead of rndis, the latter would require network session and thus anti-virus or firewall could cause some problem to the connection.

Is Motorola Phone Tools compatable with vista? If so, that should fix your problem.

Do you have the Vista compatible version of MPT? I know there is a vista version.
