 |  VZW, the Q9C, and WM 6.1 Hey folks, I'm going to pick up a Q9C in the coming days, and I was wondering... If I get a Q9C from VZW (which currently come with WM6.0 on them), and then VZW goes and allows Q9Cs to get WM6.1, do you think they'll offer it for free, or make me pay for it? |

| Shot in the dark... but I think they'll do it for free. That said; there is no rumor, plan, or premise for VZW to release 6.1 on the 9C. To be frank, I like 6.0 a lot, and don't see revolutionary changes in 6.1. Yes, it has some very nice features, but nothing I can't live without (i.e. threaded SMS- I'm not really into that). I love the calendar, task, and email (you can start typing a contact and it'll bring up a list from your address book) functions in 6.0. |

| hey now... don't go beating the horse yet! My post was valid... it was asking whether or not VZW would charge for the upgrade to WM6.1, not whether or not they were going to do it. Save the horse for something else! ;) |

| Port/Hack it What I can't understand is why no one has ported Sprint's 6.1 to work on Verizon. I had the Samsung i730, and the Windows Mobile 5 upgrade was available on all kinds of forums long before Verizon released it. Heck, some people never even bothered with the Verizon upgrade cause SuperDave's WM5 was so great. Same thing with 6 and 6.1 on PocketPCs. There are so many cooked 6.1 ROMs for the Kiaser/Tilt you could load a different one for every day of the week (maybe even the month). What really hurts is that you can even get 0S4.5 for Blackberry to work on Verizon's phones and that hasn't been official release anywhere in North American yet. Are the good hackers just bored with the Q9c and smartphones in general? What makes them unwilling, unable, or uninterested in cooking the ROMs for it? |
