Default Verizon Q Dilemma!

Hey guys,

I am having problems with the Q. This is my third one from Verizon. The first one had a problem where the operating system was going insane. My second one had a jammed button and now the third one.....well, it makes weird noises (and I've only had it for like a couple of days.)

When I say weird noises, I mean that when someone calls or texts me, occasionally it would make this horrifying distorted screech instead of the set ringtone. But it doesn't happen all the time...it'll do it like 3-5 times a day.

I'm tired of Verizon sending me refurbished phones and having to switch data back and forth every time! Do you think I should just put up with it? Or should I try to get a new one again? And if so, is there a way that I can just get a new one so that I don't have to take my chances again?

(BTW, my warranty expires August 3rd...)

Thanks!

i would not put up with it, as you probably can tell the majority of the members have good working reliable Q's so why shouldn't you ?

how to get a new Q instead of a refurbised one, i don't know... would going to a Verizon store and tellIng your story help maybe...

good luck.

Well, I would make them fulfull their agreement with you, which is to provide a new working phone and service to you as a customer. Its no skin off the CSR's back to take a new phone out of stock and give it to you. It doesn't affect their salary or anything, so you should just wear some slinky outfit to the Verizon store, sweet talk the service rep, and see how much gear you can walk out of there for free with!

Default thanks!

LOL. I think I will try just going to the store and asking them for one. It will be hard to prove the noise though because it happens without heed or warning....

but thanks! I'll be pickin my outfit out then lol.

I would definitely go the route of just going to a store in person and tell them your whole story. Just let them know that you think you deserve a working, non-probematic phone. They will sympatise bcause you are only asking for what you have already paid for. Good luck!

Default Follow-up

I went into Verizon today and told them my situation. They gave me a replacement but nonetheless, still a refurbished one! I am a little disappointed because I do agree with you all that I should get what I paid for. But so far, it hasn't really had any issues so let's hope it stays that way!!

I wonder what the VZW contracts say about re-furbished phones and the customer liking it?

i was wondering the same thing... it's ridiculous you buy a new phone, have problems and then get a 'used' one.

if carriers stopped subsidizing the price of phones (with new contracts / customers) and made customers pay full price, I think they'd stop handing out refurbs and start giving new ones . . . because no one would accepting paying full price for a phone that doesn't work (or was previously owned).

Default Try This

I can tell you that there is a program that you might be able to get if you contact customer service. If a customer receives 3 or more phones they can get a comparable model as a replacement although it is a refurb. There is so many issues with the Q, Its basically you put up with it or you get something else, this is from my experience as a CS rep and an owner of a VZW Q. Its totally ridiculous and it doesn't look good for the WM6 update. Defiantly try to do the update from Moto and also make sure you use the task manager, keep programs close when your not using them. I can't tell you what to do about the current problem which is the noise. Defiantly call and tell CS that you have 3 phones and your fed up. At least you would be able to get a VX6700 and they're not bad. Hopefully VZW will come out with a stable Windows Mobile Update for the Q.
