Yep, my roommate at school got some Samsung slider phone from Cingular a few months ago, and the screen cracked randomly while the phone was just sitting in his pocket. He sent it back, and they sent him a refurbished one (eventually). He was just going to live with it, but I guess his dad was a little pissed... and argued with Cingular until they sent a new phone.

So I guess I'm just saying that it never hurts to explain to customer service that you're not okay with paying for a new phone and getting a refurbished one, especially when it's not your fault that you need a replacement.

I agree with the tactic of using womanly charms on an unsuspecting pimply faced kid at the Verizon store. Should work.

Its totally ridiculous and it doesn't look good for the WM6 update. Defiantly try to do the update from Moto and also make sure you use the task manager, keep programs close when your not using them. I can't tell you what to do about the current problem which is the noise. Defiantly call and tell CS that you have 3 phones and your fed up. At least you would be able to get a VX6700 and they're not bad. Hopefully VZW will come out with a stable Windows Mobile Update for the Q.
there is the program to replace your phone you have to have had 3 replacements and then and only then they will switch it out for a new phone. not a refurbished one. the refurb phones at verizon do not come with the battery plates or the battery so in the long run its more discounting to accessories if they give u a refurb. i believe there is a set phone they will give you if you are eligible for this program. depending on the phone you have. in your case realistically it is probably a brand new Q. The 6700 isnt a bad phone i had one but its known to have some problems as well.

When you say "they" are you referring to VZW or the insurance company that is contracted through them? Not that my Q has broken, but you just never know...

Default quick update

Just a quick update. After contacting Verizon for the fifth time about malfunctioned-refurb Qs, they agreed to send me a brand new one. It happens to be a black one since they are out of the silvers (I had one of those originally).

Anyway, new Q, extra battery and charger pretty much sums up my exchange experience with Verizon. However, they did extend my New every Two by 10 months.

Moral of the story is: if you show that you have been inconvenienced, you will most likely get it your way.

I have heard from Verizon if you have to replace your phone 3 times in 3 moths they have to give you a new phone and not a refurb

Well, it definitely took them more than three times to give me a new one! But they did nonetheless. Turns out I have to pay a tax on it though and of course, they tax it on the FULL PRICE of $449 and so it comes out to be thirty somethin dollars. Nothing to fuss over, but still a little unfair. Not to mention, they didn't warn me about it. It simply showed up on my bill.

I have had my Q since Feb and I was having a problem with the sound and I am on my 3rd one. I would not have sound but I would have sound if the phone rang. I found a fix with it and meeting with developers with Verizon on Monday to talk about it. But they replaced my phone twice at the stores for me; they just did it as a DOA and did not charge me anything.
