right...there used to only be 1 data plan

doesnt look like they can track it just like any other push service
but since verizon doesnt really know any 'web' based service they cant say not use it
exhange is a big name and just by saying it they think thats all that is out there....
also i think exchange used to run off of texts initiating emails to devices which is another story

also noting there terms and conditions doesnt mention exchange specifically like it mentions wireless sync/blackberry mail

wireless sync is a verizon based opertation so they can control it
you have to download there app and use there servers which is why they can control it/see it

Exchange does work. My father and I are both doing it on the $29.99 plan (my Q9m, his Q9c)

That is with a 3rd party (or your own) exchange server?
How long have you been on this plan?

I'm still on the $44/mo plan (but I still have a grandfathered 2000 SMS plan too). Anybody move to the the $29.99 plan and still have the 2000 SMS plan?

i have not (yet) switched plans, but i changed phones (used a Razr's NE2, was a whole thing to get it all working again) but i was able to keep the SMS 2000.

How much have you been using it? I mean, do you have it setup to stay connected all the time like I had it setup with my work exchange server.

do you check your data usage and have you been going over the softcap?

I run my own exchange server. We both use direct push, him for 1.5 months, me for about a 2 weeks. Works fine for both of us. My father used 20mb in a full month, so the data usage isn't a problem. I also use PDAnet (light use when away from a better connection), and from what I'm seeing so far, I'll probably use about 150-250mb in most months.

Just thought I'd confirm that yesterday I called and switched from the $44.95 to the $29.99 data plan. The CS rep said it wouldn't work with corporate email. I didn't push her regarding exchange, but I asked if it didn't work with my email, could I switch back, and she said sure. So far, it is working fine with my sherweb exchange account. She also said that I would still get the corporate discount I was getting on the 44.99 plan.

I logged into MyAccount on Verizon afterwards, and my SMS 2000 was still there ...

Guess I'll see what my bill looks like ... I didn't ask if it was retroactive to the start of my billing cycle ...
