So what plan would be best if I *don't* need tethering, or push e-mail... I just need unlimited web browsing, data transfers, that sorta thing...
Tethering doesn't make a whole lot of sense for me, because my entire campus is set up for Wi-Fi and so is my work, and as amazing as EVDO is... it's not as amazing as Wi-Fi.
how much would I be looking at for just basic unlimited data on a q9c?
They have a fairly new (since mid-April) $29.99 unlimited data plan. Ask them for that one and you should be good.
I just got my q9c I had a 6700 for a few years and it was dying. I got something from Verizon that I could get 200 off a pda phone if I renew for a 2 years on a new email plan. I get there and start asking some questions and the email plan won't do the sync. They tries to get me to sign up for a 129.99 plan to get 1350 min and unlimited data with sync. I ask then why do I want to chance my plan, I am getting the same number of min unlimited data not extra sync charge for 109. They kept trying to get me to change my plan. I finally said why do I want to pay $20 a month more for the exact same thing I have now? Plus they told us we could tether out phones back then so I don't need that extra fee to tether my phone.
At least after all that arguing I ended up getting the phone for $50 plus tax somehow plus still have a $50 rebate coming.
