so I called them today to change my plan, I am currently on the 44.99 plan and don't have tethering. I do have a Q9m and the guy I talked to said that they didn't have a plan that included tethering, it was a 15.00 add on fee. I read this whole thread and I know a lot of talk has been put into the 29.99 plan, but I need push email for work (on call IT, and we don't have POP3 or IMAP enabled..) and would like the tethering for the same price im paying now.. Is there anything specific I need to ask for? or a "special" number I should call?

thanks in advance!

80kb is nothing....
i wouldnt really worry about the 5-10gig limit...you would have to try pretty hard to hit that with just basic use

In the two months I've had service, I haven't even hit 1 gig, and I use it a lot! Granted, I don't do streaming and such... but for business use (email, looking up info, sending/receiving files and so forth) 5-10 gigs is going to be tough for me to ever come close.

A question... I am thinking of staying at the $44.95 level to include tethering. I have used PDANet in the past on occasion. Is there any connection difference when using VZW's tethering vs PDANet? IOW, better connectivity/integration? I realize that the pipeline itself is the same through either tool. I find PDANet drops connection a lot.

for push mail with tethering you are looking at a 65.00 a month data bill, unless you use pdanet.

Iused the VZW tethering and found it more reliable than PDANet. Maybe it depends on the area but I had more dropped connections with PDANet than the VZW tethering. I still have the option but with the laptop is still in the shop not much use for tethering at the moment.
Even used it on my PC for a few days with out much connection dropping.

Now I'm confused... I thought the new plan INCLUDED push mail and tethering at the $44.95 price. I've got an email to my rep to find out if there is some specific plan name or number to request.

Ya, that's what I thought. looks like I might be trying PDANet..

Are there any precautions I should know about while trying it? I guess I can go search for it first.. :-) thanks guys. :-)

for me it was 15 extra for tethering.

im not on a business plan so who the heck knows...seems like the rules are set by who you talk to at vzw.

Good to know -- thanks!
