Tethering? As a modem? This is what I read for the 44.99 option on the Q9m:

"Connect your mobile PDA or Smartphone to your PC with PDA/Smartphone from Verizon Wireless, providing over-the-air synchronization of e-mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks. Service available within the NationalAccess or, with certain devices, the BroadbandAccess service area."

I don't think the modem option is included in this, but it would be nice if it is.

Modem is only included in the 44.99 plan but you could always use PDANet

That's how I got the Q for only $19 bucks (plus the $50 rebate of course). Otherwise I could've just upgraded my phone under my number for the discount price only and paid $119.

My number has since past the New Every Two point now as well, and that's how I got the LG 8350 for free for her... under my number initially, then switching to her number afterwards.

I may be mistaken, but that's what I understand it to be.

BTW, it may be the new customer equivalent, 2 year contract price that you qualify for after the 12 months, otherwise you would pay full retail price to upgrade to a different phone.
All I know is I got my q9m the week it came out in Aug 07 for $50 after only 12 months.

Does it work for non-business accounts? And..if I am a "VIP" member--does that mean a phone at the discounted price every 12 months instead of 2 years?

tia,

I have gotten Verizon to waive the 24 month timeframe before and just gave me the full New Every Two price after around 15 months or so a couple times, but I have yet to be told of a 12 month New Every Two timeframe....and I pay $150 per month! Anyways, I may just try and call around Sept of this year to see if they'll do this VIP thing you're mentioning.

In fact I may call inquiring about it now just to see what they say.

Yep, you're right girlyQ, they said that they do have that waiver for plans of $34.99 or higher, however, for family share lines like my wifes, I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the 12 month upgrade due to it only being a $9.99 per/ month pricing...even despite the fact that I pay $150 per month for both!!! So I'm probably better off splitting those two into two seperate plans altogether. It just gets even better and better with Verizons' idiotic qualification policies...

Well, I just emailed my company rep to find out the skinny on this plan change. I had to have the $45 plan for three months to qualify for my advanced device credit when I bought the phone. I'm trying to find out if this new $30 plan will also count... otherwise I've still got another month of the $45 route. I was thinking about installing Funambol on one of my web/mail servers to create push mail, but it's really not a necessity for me. If I can save $15 a month and lose push mail ability, I'm not going to cry
