So what happens if I do nothing to my plan? Do I keep the 40 some odd dollars data package?

You'll keep paying $44.99. It won't change automatically. In fact, that was another option on my account. I have the option to upgrade from the $29.99 "Email & Web for Smartphone" plan to the $44.99 unlimited data plan.

the new 44.99 plan (i guess for the Q9m only at this point) allows for tethering and exchange email where as the new 29.99 does not

If you are a "My Account" customer on Verizon's Website you can get a new phone every year. Strangely enough, you have to call them to get the promotional pricing.

If I remember correctly, you don't get the full New Every Two discount as you would at the 20 month point. When I was going to go to the Q I was told that my phone only qualified for a discounted price, but my wife's phone had past the 2 year term of the contract, thus getting the additional $100 off on top of the discounted phone price (I just swapped numbers once I got my Q, under her number). That's how I got the Q for only $19 bucks (plus the $50 rebate of course). Otherwise I could've just upgraded my phone under my number for the discount price only and paid $119.

My number has since past the New Every Two point now as well, and that's how I got the LG 8350 for free for her... under my number initially, then switching to her number afterwards.

I may be mistaken, but that's what I understand it to be.


BTW, it may be the new customer equivalent, 2 year contract price that you qualify for after the 12 months, otherwise you would pay full retail price to upgrade to a different phone.

This $29.99 deal doesn't work for the Q1, can someone please confirm that they got this unlimited package w/o tethering on their Q1? Because I called 4 reps, and they all gave the run around, and finally I got a rep who seemed to know a lot, and he said it wasn't possible to override. Let me know if you've done it please

With an exchange server, it can be set to use the normal exchange (not pop3) and check every x number of minutes, instead of push email. I do it over wifi.
