Default Verizon Internet Sales

Hi everyone,
I am almost at my New Every Two date later this month, and I plan to get a Q9c for my wife and for me.

It looks like there is an online discount on the Verizon Wireless website. I wonder if people have found the online site to be the most cost effective way to buy a new phone.

Also, it says that the price is $99 after the online discount and with a new 2 year plan. Is that price the same if you do not get a data plan? My wife and I really want to be able to sync with Outlook at our respective jobs, but I may not be able to swing the data plan cost. Does the phone cost more if you do not get the data plan?

Um ... also, a guy in a Verizon booth at the local mall indicated that, without a data plan, you would be charged a kb usage fee for texting (regular or picture) - not for surfing the net or e-mail, just texting. This information did not seem consistent with anything else that I had read. Do you pay an extra kb charge for simple text messages?

And lastly, my colleagues had mentioned that they had a plan with 250 texts per line for $5 per line. Is that option still available?

Sorry for the many questions and thanks in advance for any guidance!

the cost of the phone does not change if you get a data plan or not

data plan is a monthly cost of 30 bucks per smartphone

You tend to get better prices online (in my opinion). I just got my son the new Chocolate for free (online). I used my daughters upgrade, and it was free if you upgraded online (vs. $179.00 at the store). I actually prefer buying in person, because I like to use cash instead of plastic...

I went in to the Verizon store, and asked them about the "free" Chocolate, and the woman looked at me like I had 3 heads. I pulled up their own website on one of the stores handy computers, and showed her I wasn't making it up.

She called the manager over, and they said they couldn't match that price...Got it totally free online.

Also, if there are any rebate on the phones, they are automatically given online, without having to send anything in...That's what you'll see with Verizons new Q. In the store, with a new 2 year plan, phone is $149.00 with a $50.00 mail in rebate. On line, rebate is automatic, so you only pay $99.00

Before anyone asks, NO! I do not work for Verizon, I just shop thing to death for the best prices. I just got hubby new Blackberry (NOT MY CHOICE!!)/daughter an EnV2/and son a new Chocolate. I also got hubby a case/bluetooth ear piece/music essentials kit (free) for son and daughter/and 2 storage cards (1 gig & 2 gig) for kids/and case for daughters phone...

I just got a coupon in the mail for Verizon stating that "since you are a loyal customer, if you renew your plan now, I can save $100.00 on a new phone"

My NE2 isn't due until December, and my contract doesn't expire until March, but I may take this opportunity to get the new Q (if it is $99.00 and I have $100.00 off, it's free, right???)

you dont need the data plan. i had the original q for like a year and never had a data plan and never got charged for texting or picture messages. im pretty sure that option is still available but if you and your wifes lines are on a share plan you might just wanna upgrade to the select and get unlimited texting its like an extra 20 bucks a month but its for all the lines on the plan.

Coming from an employee, (myself)

Verizon used to do what's called an Advanced Device Credit of $100 at the time of purchase on a PDA, based on the stipulation that you get the data plan at the time of purchase, no data, no $100 instant credit. (This is different from the New Every Two credit, but did used to be able to be combined with the NE2)
This has since ended, now the PDA pricing reflects a discount, (may or may not be $100 less than the usual 2 yr pricing) built into the price tag of the phone.

Data plans used to be 44.99 for all PDA's. that too ended, now the data plans START at 29.99 for unlimited use, the 44.99 still exists if you need access to an exchange server or corporate email server, which if you need access to such things, the 44.99 is mandatory.

Data usages,
If you do not sign up for any data plan and plan on sending/receiving pictures, yes, you will be billed at a per kb charge of 0.015 cents per kb, regardless if you get the unlimited messaging plan and only applies to PDA/Smartphones.

Online pricing,
Yes, it varies online vs. the stores, the reason is sometimes if they need to drive more sales to the online and telesales departments they will do better pricing for those departments, unfortunately we cannot honor that pricing in the store. Online and Telesales gives instant rebates whereas the stores to mail-in rebates, we have no choice.

Also, the $29.99 plan is not unlimited. It is for 5 MB. I thought you could use an exchange server with this, but no VZW wireless sync.

The $44.99 plan is unlimited w/wireless sync..
