Default Using Verizon Q as non-broadband modem

I don't have a data plan (use my Q primarily as a PDA/phone) but would like to occasionally download e-mail or directions to my phone from a dial-up account (56kps) (I have DSL for my laptop). I have downloaded PDANet, but the program only seems to use the EVDO broadband of the Q (at 1.5 cents/kb). I'd like to use my voice minutes to connect to my dialup ISP, but it appears the Verizon Q won't allow this. Anyone know of a fix?

use active sync to transfer emails from your PC and as for directions save them as pdfs and view them on the phone or copy them to a word doc and view it on the Q (since you can view word docs by default) or you can get a note program like MS OneNote that syncs with your PC so you can just sync notes back and forth....

Scott,

Thanks, I already do that, but I want to use my Q as a tethered modem for my laptop when I don't have any available Wifi connection or land line phone jack (e.g., at a vacation house, or when travelling). Since I get a free dialup account from my broadband ISP, it seems like an easy solution -- but I can't make it work, and all the threads here deal with using the Q as a tethered modem for EVDO.

Get a data plan. This phone w/o data is like Lance Armstrong w/o a bike.
