Question Using Q without service?

I couldn't find these questions posted elsewhere, but sorry if they've been asked before.

I have a Q with Verizon service, but the service is being canceled and I'd like to still use the device for music/games/photos. I know it will still be functional (sans Internet/Email etc.), but:

- is there a way to prevent it from searching for the network (if it doesn't stop automattically)?

- will I still be able to do Motorola software updates (via PC connection)?

I just want to make sure I will still get good use out of the device.

Thanks for any input!

Turn on flight mode and it should stop searching for a network.

As for the software updates, I have no clue personally.

Yes, you should be able to update the software using your PC

With the right software on a PC or linux box, you can even get internet over bluetooth - although it's range is short, 10 feet or so from the bluetooth dongle on your pc.
