Using Q as a modem?

Correct 5Gigs a month applies to an MDN...so only the number is being watched.

You DO need to have the tethering option for $15/month added on for tethering to work properly. This brings your monthly data up to $59.99 which is the minimum each month required for BroadBandAccess. The PC Card will pull slightly faster speeds just because it is dedicated and does not have anything else going on like a phone does. Another bonus is that the PC Card is also available is Rev. A, and the only phone available with Rev A will be the new Audiovox VX6800 but is not due out until June at the latest.

PC Cards will also be uninterrupted where a phone with tethering can receive calls still.

If you do NOT have the tethering option on your plan and VZW fins that you are still using it as a modem, this is a violation of T&C (terms & conditions) and you able to have your service terminated at any time wether you are at 5Gigs or 5Mbs because you "technically" are not complying with the minimum requirements for internet access for a laptop.

I have pdanet on my Q and I plan on using it this summer while at annual training. I tried it out this weekend and it is kinda slow (some of that is location I'm sure, I have trouble at times making calls) but I was able to pull what I needed to my notebook.

I pay $55($40 plus $15). But anyhoo, how does Verizon keep a watch on ones tethering? I go into my account and my data is extremely low. Off by several Gigs lol. I am assuming that data listed is from actual Q? and does not include tethering. Also, since I am tethering, do I get 5GB from Q and 5GB from tethering or is that crap combined making me even more pissed off at Verizon for charging so much and limiting ones surfing fun?

I have a tendency to use a lot of bandwidth during the month using my Q. IF I leave the house today, the NWS will be running most of the time. The weather is supposed to get bad in Tennessee today, so I'll be using the bandwidth. I wonder could they tell from an average month of data use and tethering use? I'm not going to pay the $15.
