Default Unlocking Phone

Been heavily considering switching to Sprint for the SERO plan since it's less than half of what I currently pay for my Verizon plan (450 minutes, 5gb for internet, 250 text messages for ~$83/month after 17% discount on the voice).

In order to get my Q to work on the Sprint network, do I just need to get it unlocked and get a new SIM or something? If so, where can I get this done, and how much would it cost?

wtf they let anyone become a moderator here now? lol just kidding. Thanks for the info. I'm surprised it's that easy. Does anyone know if I can take an unlocked Verizon phone and put it on the Sprint network? I don't know a whole lot about how the activation on the networks goes -- is there a code or something tied to each provider's manufacturered phones?

regarding the mod question my answer is 2-fold:
1. if Scott can be mod, well ya know..
secondly take it up with Chris

(i tease with love....)

other question, i don't know if phones are "branded" by the carrier, we have a Verizon employee here so he might be able to help you/us.

I was an early developer for the Q and Motorola told me that Verizon has a list of valid ESN numbers that it uses to validate phones when you activate the phone. So...it might be an issue to switch carriers.

My two cents...

Rob.

aha.... so that should also be something folks that buy their Q (or other phone) on eBay must consider ?

ESN, yeah that's the code or number or whatever. I couldn't remember it. Well now that I look at the Sprint website, it looks like the Q is under $100 which is well, cheap. I think I'll go that route. Honestly I hate Windows Mobile OS but the pickings are slim. Besides I already bought a ton of Q stuff, programs, accessories, etc. Grr, Hulk mad. Thanks, guys.
