Default Unlimited is dead

Official immediatesly, VZW is retiring the phrase "unlimited" data.

The 5Gig limit is being enforced so to prevent lawsuits and controversy, unlimited data is retired and all propaganda changed.

Currently I have yet to see ANY carrier offer truely "unlimited" data. Even Helio the outcast has "unlimited," up until 160Mb in a month. 160? I read that 3 times to make sure it wasn't a typo. There have been some many complaints and upset customers that officially the plan is called BroadBandAccess and customers are being informed at time of purchase that there is a 5Gig limit.

I do not think Sprint or Cingular puts limits on data, do they?

To my knowledge Sprint does not, unsure about Cingular. It'll be interesting to see if they do.

Cingular's Edge is so slow compared to EV-DO they probably figure you can't get that much data that quickly. Yes Cingular has HSDPA but not everywhere and certainly not where I live yet.

Sprint also does not offer EV-DO in my area of Upstate NY but they offer it in Wester and Eastern NY but skip the Central part, go figure. If it wasn't for the poor CS from Sprint I would consider them again.

Here is the new term that was updated on March 23, 2007

UNLIMITED DATA PLANS AND FEATURES
Unlimited Data Plans and Features (such as NationalAccess, BroadbandAccess, Push to Talk, and certain VZEmail services) may ONLY be used with wireless devices for the following purposes: (i) Internet browsing; (ii) email; and (iii) intranet access (including access to corporate intranets, email, and individual productivity applications like customer relationship management, sales force, and field service automation). The Unlimited Data Plans and Features MAY NOT be used for any other purpose. Examples of prohibited uses include, without limitation, the following: (i) continuous uploading, downloading or streaming of audio or video programming or games; (ii) server devices or host computer applications, including, but not limited to, Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, automated machine–to–machine connections or peer–to–peer (P2P) file sharing; or (iii) as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections. This means, by way of example only, that checking email, surfing the Internet, downloading legally acquired songs, and/or visiting corporate intranets is permitted, but downloading movies using P2P file sharing services and/or redirecting television signals for viewing on laptops is prohibited. A person engaged in prohibited uses, continuously for one hour, could typically use 100 to 200 MBs, or, if engaged in prohibited uses for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, could use more than 5 GBs in a month.

Before, I remember they stated you can't go over 5GB in one month, but now they only mention an example that can go over 5GB limit. and they still says unlimited data, when I try to add the USB card to the cart on their website.
