Yes, it has internet, email, IM'ing of all sorts; AOL, ICQ, Googlechat, blackberry chat etc etc. There are a few third party app's available, but not nearly to the extent of the Q. That's the big bonus of the Q, being windows based, you can put a huge variety of applications on it. I found that the only one that I really used a lot was the Sirius app. I also used the crap out of the pocket light, but that's available on the 8830 and is a ton brighter just because it uses the front screen instead of the flash, which it doesn't have.
One reason I bought the 8830 over the Q is because of a LACK of camera on it. My employer states no camera phones, and although I could get away with one as I have, I would like to be in compliance. I work in a high security environment and would hate to be called out on it. I know they are going to be checking soon since someone posted photos using a phone camera on the net of a project we're working on. Not in my office, but not far from it!
