| Trouble upgrading to a Q at VW - Help I decided I want to move up to the Q, but VW is telling me I can't for like four months, since my upgrade date is November.
But I'm trying to spend more money for a phone, go from a $39 voice plan to a $79 voice data plan... I don't see why they wouldn't encourage this?
I'm not looking for the extra $100 from the new in two plan, just the $150 price I've seen online and in VW stores.
A few go rounds with customer service is making me want to bail. I mean, I could cancel early, eat the ET fee (which I think is $175) and get the phone from Sprint for $80 and their plan is just $55 per month. Heck, I'd be saving money by November if I did this by my calculations!
But still, I've had good service from VW. I just want/need to move up to a smart phone and can't wait four months (and refuse to pay $400 to do it).
Any suggestions from you experts? One CSR told me I could do it the other day, and when I called back I got someone else who told me the person who spoke to me was "mistaken" and I could not.
Very frustrating. |

Very frustrating. | the reason you cant get it for 150 is becuase that price is including any rebates. so its 400 (or whatever the price is) becuase there are no rebates and new every 2 discounts....
if you really really want one you could always 'ebay' it...or if you search the forum here a few users are selling there Q.... |

And wouldn't they want to keep me from bailing? My math is correct, I think. I'm not trying to cheat the system. I simply need a portable e-mail device, and figured I should be able to upgrade to one if I'm willing to double my montly bill and extend my contract, without switching carriers. |

It seems kind of foolish, but I guess that's what I'll have to consider. |

| I don't know if they'd push your date up by 4 months, but they just pushed mine up by about 6 weeks. Call Verizon Wireless (611 from your cell). It may depend on whom you talk to. The first customer service rep wouldn't do it. I called back the next day and talked to another CSR and he did it for me. Emphasize that you love Verizon, you're a long-term happy customer, blah, blah, blah. Good luck. |

| do you really, really, really need a new phone now? is there an extenuating circumstance where you can't wait the extra 4 months?
and are 4 months worth of your current phone bill cheaper / more expensive than the $175 ETF? If the ETF is cheaper, I'd go ahead and break the contract and then immediately sign up again with VZW for the Q so you get the deal you want.

| I have been a VZW custmer for a long time now. Almost a year ago I bought two E815's. My wife and I each had to replace our phones three times because of software problems before I finally told them that they needed to upgrade both phones, which they did by giving us both Razors.
About a month and a half ago I decided that I couldn't wait any loger to get a Q, and my wife decided she needed one too. I inquired about my options with VZW and was told that I woud have to pay $420 for each phone.
I decided to actually go into the local store and asked to speak to a manager. I told him of all the troubles I have had with my phones in the past in tandem with the fact that my Razor was approaching needing to be replaced at VZW's expense. I made sure he knew I wasn't asking for a handout and I just wanted my software problems to go away but that I thought I should pay the lower discounted price for my trouble and loyalty.
He agreed and decided to do it for me. My plan rate went up marginally (I had unlimited data and V-Cast on the Razors) and I have stayed a VZW customer where I have always had geat service. I can say that CSRs at 611 will NOT usually waive the wait time. You are much more likely to get results in person. Just don't back down until they give you the answer you are looking for. It's not like they are losing money on the deal. |
