I don't think that they work with the original Q's, only the Q9's, but perhaps that has changed since these cards first became available. There's probably a thread here at EQ that discusses the issue.

I have a Q9m with data block and added the $10/month txt & pix plan. Picture messages are telling me that the message needs to be downloaded and when trying to download it (obviously) it doesn't work with no data. Should I call Verizon?

i really wanna know about this too. i read everywhere and this

"If you have a PDA or Smartphone, picture and video messaging transport will not be billed unless you (i) are in the Extended National Enhanced Services Rate and Coverage Area; and (ii) do not subscribe to a data plan or feature that includes 'unlimited' data usage, in which case picture and video messaging transport will be billed as data usage and deducted from your monthly data allowance, or billed at 1.5¢ per KB ($15.36 per MB), as applicable."

but it doesnt make sense. All I want to know is if I have the pay-as-you-go data plan but with the $10 unlimited in-txt messaging plan. would MMS be charged as data, minutes, or normal txt?

With pay-as-you-go and the $10 pix/txt plan, pictures and text messages are not billed (because of the $10 plan). However I get some random data usage every month for reasons I can't figure out. It hasn't been over $1 yet though.

The charge for data is due to the picture messaging. Those of us that have a FULL data block are unable to send or receive MMS because that uses data with the smartphone (and I even have a messaging package). That is the way that VZW has it setup. Those with UNLIMITED data will get charged for MMS if they do not have a messaging package, but if they do have a package, then the bill looks normal, no spike in price. Those with PAY-PER-KB data and a messaging plan get charged for the data used in sending and receiving MMS, but are not billed for the actual message, since they have the messaging package, if you don't have a package, then you get the data charge and the message charge. VZW is out to make money and love confusing their customers to do it - they also believe in double billing

Hello all,
So what is the answer here? besides the fact that Verizon stinks!!, I have the 250 txt msg plan for $5.00. I assumee data is blocked on my phone because everytime i try to send or receive a pix message, I get the error messages, "unable to log in" or something like that I forget the rest, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. If I call Verizon and unblock whatever I need to unblock, will I be able to send/receive pix messages and if so, how much will I be charged?
This stuff really pisses me off, my wife has a Razor and since we have the 250 txt msg plan on each of our phones, she can send and receive pix messages with no additional charges. If anyone knows what I can do please let me know. Thanz in advance.
DAN

Sounds like you have a Data Block on your line. You can call VZW and have them remove the block and choose to either go with the Pay-Per-KB option or the Unlimited Data. If you are not sending and receiving that many pictures messages (MMS) per month and are not using your Q for browsing the net, then the Pay-Per option would be the best IMHO. I don't use data at all on my Q9m, since no one sends me picture messages. I just like having a full keyboard and being able to use my own ringtones.

Hope this information helps.

Cheers!
