Exclamation Text message issues with VZW

I am having an interesting issue with my text messages. If someone sends me a message over 160 characters, instead of breaking it into two messages, the network truncates the message after 160 chatacters and send the following as a second message "Preceding message was modified to comply with this handset. Media objects were removed." There are no media objects in the messages. It also happens with anyone who sends me a long message, verizon customers and other a like. VZW customer serrvice is a joke on this topic. please help.

Verizon Text Message software is limited to a Maximum of 160 characters. That means any one text message is cut off at 160. Everything after 160 is deleted. Media = Characters.

Not necessarily true. My wife's V actually will break it into two messages at times. I thought this was a carrier limitation but it seems its a manufacture limitation.

I understand the standard text messages are only 160 characters. But the Q can handle EMS (Enhanced message system) which splits messages that are more than 160 characters into multiple messages of 160 characters each. Until about three months ago my girlfriend could send me the equivalent of a novel in a text message (300-400 characters and i would get all of it, it would just be brokes into 2 or 3 messages. Now i just get what i described above.

I am getting ready to call VZW and have them check their system to make sure that it shows that EMS is available on all versions of the Q. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

Yes i will let everyone know. i will post the results here. I am on hold with them right now.

UPDATE: Just finished with VZW, it seems that it was an issue with the "provisioning" on my account. The problem is fixed. If you have this problem also, you have to call them and have them make sure that everything is set correctly for EMS (see above posts for what this is) for your phone and account.

If you post your results, I or someone else should call. You know we would get a different answer.

On hold right now with verizon. Rep said its EMS capable, but is checking how to resolve the issue.

Still on hold waiting for the special dept to pick up.
I was told it was a security setting by default to prevent unwanted txt messages. They are looking into it.
I am now with tier 3 tech support.
I told them exactly what was posted here. So far their response is that person is probably on sprint. I said um no, its my wife on verizon.
