Default Synchronizing Gmail

I just got a Q black and have set up Gmail with Wireless Sync. I receive my messages just fine, but I would like to configure my setup so that the gmail on my phone is in sync with the gmail on the server/web client.

Right now I get all new messages to both places and have to manage them independently... ie they are never automatically in sync. I would like for messages that I have read or deleted on my Q to be reflected in Gmail when I access it through the web.

My Pop and Forwarding settings in gmail are set to keep gmail's copy in the inbox when accessing with pop. I tried the setting to archive and delete gmail's copy, but I don't want that either.

I've looked through countless postings and haven't found any advice to address this exact scenario. Can someone assist?

it has been my experience that when you are useing your motoq for gmail that you are useing it purely as a reader for the emails, not being able to manipulate them is a pain but i dont think that gmails servers support that, because of how they have the archive and label features, which arent typical pop email features....

dont know if that helps but its my 2 cents

Default You need the gmail application (Java Midlet

*Please* let me know if this works for you, I have read on other forums that it works for many others, but it doesn't seem to work for me :-(

1.) Download IBM Java from: http://files.filefront.com//;6090608;;/

2.) Copy the entire J9 folder to the root of your Q keeping directory structure

3.) In the J9\MIDP20 folder create a subfolder called apps

4.) Download the Gmail jar file from: http://gmail.com/app/v1.0.0/en/gmail-g.jar

5.) Download Gmail jad from: http://gmail.com/app/v1.0.0/en/gm-Ge...nced_MIDP2.jad

6.) Rename the jad file gmail.jad for simplicity

7.) Copy both gmail.jad & gmail-g.jar to \J9\MIDP20\apps

8.) Run emulator.exe found in \J9\MIDP20\bin

9.) Select install and in the drop down box select "/"

10.) In the URL box type \J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail.jad

11.) Follow prompts until you see the application has been installed successfully

12.) Create a text file for a direct shortcut to the Gmail java app

13.) Use the following line for the shortcut (keep it a single line):
197#"\J9\MIDP20\bin\j9midp20.exe" -classpath "\J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail-g.jar" "-Xbootclasspath:\J9\MIDP20\lib\jclMidp20\jclMidp20. jxe" javax.microedition.lcdui.AppManager "\J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail.jad"

14.) Save the text file as Gmail.lnk

15.) Copy Gmail.lnk to \Windows\Start Menu

16.) To fix fonts download http://mysite.verizon.net/res00tqh/fontPaths.jar

17.) Copy fontPaths.jar to \J9\MIDP20\lib\jclMidp20\ext

18.) Optional: Create a speed dial shortcut for one click access from your homescreen

I got it working just fine. Only thing you have to pay attention to is that on the third line in step 13 (see below), there is a space between the period and "jxe" (jclMidp20. jxe). Remove that and it works beautifully.

13.) Use the following line for the shortcut (keep it a single line):
197#"\J9\MIDP20\bin\j9midp20.exe" -classpath "\J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail-g.jar" "-Xbootclasspath:\J9\MIDP20\lib\jclMidp20\jclMidp20. jxe" javax.microedition.lcdui.AppManager "\J9\MIDP20\apps\gmail.jad"

I was unable to get this to work. I have it installed but when I use the link I created it opens the IBM MIDP and then closes it automatically. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
