Default Support from Verizon after purchasing from outside source?

Hey guys,

I just have a quick question, and have seen a few other threads on this, but none of them had a for-sure answer. I just purchased my Motorola Q off of ebay, and was wondering if there is anything wrong with the phone and I bring it into Verizon, will they service it?

Also, what is the current firmware version on the motorola q? I'd like to upgrade it if mine isn't up to date.

Thanks!

Send a message via Yahoo to mike250rs

you should be able to check all functions except data and voice services, Verizon will check that during activation(I hope)

for the latest updates got to the Motorola web site and it will tell you if one is available.

The reason why I ask is because the phone keeps freezing while the display is dimmed and I can't get anything but a blank screen unless I pull the battery. I was hoping Verizon could look into this.

Is something that they would cover?

IMO they will just flash or master reset your phone. So why dont you try to see if there is an upgrade. go to motorola.com/update. If there is an update available upgrade your phone. Make sure you backup all of your data before doing the update.

Also make sure "Enable Advanced networking functionality" is checked by going to start- settings -connections - USB to PC before starting the upgrade.

=( No luck. I just completely updated the phone and it just froze with a black screen on me now.

From my experiences, as long as the ESN is clear (which it must be for activation) they will do software and firmware updates. Some repairs (FREE) will depend on if the phone is under warranty. However, they certainly diagnose the problem at no charge.

Well I think that I will need a replacement phone. I have tried to flash the phone, but it was unsuccessful. Is this something I can hope for if I go there?

Depends on the warranty. Have you called them?
