Default Stolen or Lost Q...

What happens when your phone is lost or stolen?

Do they just end the service on the lost one and give you a new phone, with no follow up on your stolen one?

Do they try to track the phone to see if anyone tries to activate it, or does that person just get away with a free phone?

No worries, I didn't lose mine and I haven't stolen one. I was just wandering what the process was like. I've never heard of anyone being arrested for trying to activate a stolen phone. I hope there is some type of system in place to catch the crooks that do this though. I know it would be a catastrophe if I had mine stolen, My life is in this thing.

Well, I know from personal experience, when you try to activate a "lost or stolen" phone with Sprint, they WILL NOT do it... Unless of course you're able to pull some strings... *shrug*

I bought a phone from Craigslist, when I was with Sprint about a year ago, and tried to get it activated... NO DICE!!

The phone was reported "lost", not even stolen... They wouldn't activate for me AT ALL...

I ended up wit a $120 paperweight...

I suppose I could have tried to push it off on some other sucker, but I took it as a lesson....

I know from experiecne, Verizon will not activate it.

I bought a phone off of Ebay, but before I paid for it I ran the ESN through verizon to check it... they told me it was clear.

I paid for the phone, recieved it and tried to Activate it, they told me it was on the LOST/STOLEN list and they could not do anything for me.

After conversing with a suppervisor and providing her with well documented conversations (on my part) that I called and checked BEFORE buying and they mis-informaed me, she agreed to sell me a Q at promotional price, which was $50 cheaper then the USED one I bought on Ebay.

Verizon DID NOT try to pursue an investigation into why I had a stolen phone. I sent it back to the person I bought it from on eBay and they reimbursed me 100% plus shipping.
