| Simple question (I hope) If I buy a 9m online from Ebay, and I currently have insurance on my Q, will Assurion cover my new phone that I've purchased, or will they drop my insurance coverage? Obviously, they wouldn't charge me the $ for insurance if they wouldn't cover me, but I wasn't sure how if the insurance transfers, or if they won't insure non-VZW purchased phones.
On that note also- if I can buy a 9m on ebay for $150, and I can't upgrade for another 12 months, then I'd be able to change data plans and save the money every month, it'd be a wash. Can anyone that has gone from Q1 to 9m please offer their encouragement or dis encouragement?
Thanks,
Paul |

Paul | Assurion has always covered whatever phone I have. When I went from a regular LG phone to a Treo (second hand) they had it in their system that my treo was my current phone. I think it is somehow tied into Verizon's database. As long as the phone is active and functioning, your insurance should switch over. Call them and see. |

| I did it! So I bought a 9m on Ebay from some dude. I know it's risky, but I figured it can't be that bad. I got it for $162, and now plan on giving my wife the Q.
That said- I won't have data plan put on her (my old Q). If that's the case- can she still sync her Outlook POP3 email with ActiveSync, if the POP account is going directly to Outlook's Inbox? Then, she could reply to the emails when she's on the road, and when she gets home could sync her Q, and the emails would then sync to Outlooks outbox, and be sent out.
Can someone tell me if this is making sense?
Thanks! |

| I hate to tell you this now that you've already bought the Q9m on e-bay, but if you are a my account customer you can get a new Q9m through Verizon for the discounted pricing. I don't know exactly what discounts apply, but I got mine last August when it first came out for $50. Of course, you do have to extend your contract.
What you were saying about giving the old Q to your wife makes complete sense. |

| Thanks... GirlyQ- I tried to buy the q9m a few days ago via the website (yes, I'm a My Account Customer) and it's hitting me at $449. I know that's not the discounted prices. My NE2 isn't until June 2009, so I think this should work out well. At worst, I'll break even, given I can downgrade to the $29.99 Data Plan (save the $15/ mo x 14 months)... I'll end up saving about $30 plus the taxes I would have paid because of the phone bill being higher.
Anyhow, thanks for the response. I assume you like 9m better than your oldschool Q? |

And yes, I like the 9m much better. Haven't had to get a replacement once since August and I went through about 5 orig. Qs in the year I had it. |

Paul | 1. Your phone should be fine. I have bought several phones on ebay (smartphones and regular phones) never had a problem. And, the insurance will transfer.
2. Put a datablock on your wife's Q then set it up to sync with outlook. This will tell you whether or not you can sync without a dataplan. It should be fine.
3. If you call Verizon and they can give you a better deal, you can always sell the Q9m back on ebay. |
