Default Q9m Questions!

So I got my Q9m and have a couple questions.

I had a Data Block put on the line, but added the $10 Unlimited-IN+500 Pix/Txt Messaging plan. Obviously this didn't work with picture messages since they are sent/received via data.

I had the Data Block taken off and put the phone on the "pay as you go" data plan with which I will try to only use data for picture messages and therefore not get charged (with the $10 txt/pix plan).

When I send or receive a picture message, the tower reception icon in the top right switches to the two arrow data icon. When I'm done getting the message, it doesn't change back.

From that point on it stays as the data icon until I reboot the phone, then it will switch back to the cellular reception icon.

The icon I'm talking about that comes when data is used and then won't go away can be seen in the top right here: http://www.itgatevn.com.vn/pictures/...vn_0009391.jpg

The normal icon that I think it should change back to can be seen in the top right here: http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/reso...007/08/q9m.png

What do you think is wrong? Verizon doesn't understand what I'm saying with all the icons and stuff.

EDIT: Also, how do I set a tone for receiving a MMS? Mine makes a noise when I get a text, but not when I get a picture message.

Thanks!!

the pda looking icon means you are transfering data
the arrows do not mean that...means you are ready to transfer data

Ah, ok thanks. The PDA icon does come on and go away correctly. Is there a reason why it will stay on the standard reception icon until the first picture message and then switch to the arrow "ready to transfer" icon forever until the phone is restarted? I guess I shouldn't worry about it.

So I had to cancel the Data Block to get picture messaging working. I'm OK with that as long as I don't get charged for data.

I accidentally opened Internet Explorer and wasn't paying attention and before I knew it the VZW Start page loaded up. Am I going to get charged for that?

What other things on the phone should I watch out for so I don't use data.

Yeah, you'll probably get charged, but it probably won't be much. There's a hack floating somewhere around here to make your Q ask for password anytime it tries to use data.

I found the password hack, but I wish it was just an app to install. I don't want to be editing things on it yet. Did anyone confirm that it works on the Q9m?
