Default Q9c with GPS. Locked down?

Is it true that the new Q9c for VZW is locked down and not accessible to Google maps? If so I'm driving to Verizons house to punch him in the face.

Any hacks available?

hmmm...i wonder where verizon lives...and if 'verizon' is a real person...

and probably no hacks as very few people have the device so far

Default Q GPS actually there?

Why is it that all the documentation doesn't say it explicityly: GPS included? it mentions their verizon maps but doesn't say GPS.... like it can only be used with their software; would suck; I enjoy google maps thoroughly; and if anything what other software is there that can do maps easier? My biggest demand is to be able to click a button and for it to tell me where I am at that instant....
So does anyone know if I have to order vznavigator to get the gps to work? just got my new Q 9c this morning...

yes, GPS is locked down and only enabled when running VZnavigator, even then, it only enables the chip once the VZnavigator service validates you have access and responds telling your phone it's OK to do so.

No hacks yet although even the mighty verizon cannot hope to completely lock down a POS windows-based OS, so I assume it's only a matter of time.

I've bricked my phone a few times trying a handful of existing hacks for other WM6 & WM5 phones, mostly registry related, but none have worked.

The verizon site for the Q 9c states that the phone is sGPS capable, which is a major feature that sold me on the phone. I guess it's not a total lie, the phone is "capable"...

I feel deceived. I should have known better.

Does anyone know if you can take a Q9c from another provider, unlock it and use it on Verizon's network and have the GPS without using VZNavigator?

Yea I've tried both the Modaco Com Hack along with the Microsoft GPSID program and had no success.
