I talked to my friend today who works are Verizon and he told me that the Q 9c will not be available anytime in the near future. I brought up the press release and he told me to ignore it that they say stuff will come out at a specific time but they never do. He had release dates on the other phones announced at the same time as the Q 9c which all were supposed to come out in April... and they all were coming out through out 2008 so as late as Sept.

They just are more stringent in their testing...but employees are usually kept in the dark about new releases because they want them to sell older phones first.

I guess... but there sure is a lag time in when Verizon gets a phone and when the other networks have introduced it already that seems WAY beyond testing.

I got the XV6900 aka Touch, aka Vogue aka Elf that has been out for well over a year on other networks. It has the same sd corruption problems as the sprint version. Testing my a$$! The lack of a keyboard makes it impossible to type reliably but the ppc platform has a lot more features than smartphone. It's been six years with smartphone that I forgot how different ppc is. Nevrerthbe less I may go back to my Q1 or get a Q9 for the html email and better keyboard. VZW takes it's sweet time removing all the features other providers leave in.

I was at the Verizon Wireless store by my house and after talking to a rep they told me that they are starting to train and certify employees on the Q9c which means they should be coming out soon. Unfortunately I couldn't wait any long and purchased a Samsung sch-i760. So it looks like my Q days will be over for now. I can say that the WM6 OS is nice and has some great new features but I miss a lot of the WM5 features which seem to have been removed.

^ I was in a Verizon store scouting new phones and asked about Smartphones and when new ones were going to be in. The worker told me that Verizon was phasing out smartphones and only going to be carrying Blackberries.

It's almost amusing to see the wide amount of answers we get.

Long story short. I could not get a good signal with the original Q. I tried to wait for the Q9c, I finally gave up and got a free Q9m in January. I don't like the color of the Q9m. I hate having that extra music screen. But, at least I have an updated phone that gets a decent signal. The lesson is, if you need a new Verizon phone, buy what they have. Otherwise, you could be in for a long wait.
