| Q not receiving text's!! Maybe someone else has experienced this. I have the Black Q, and periodically, it just won't received text messages. Such as right now! I can send text messages, and people receive them, but when they respond, I get nothing! This has happened a few times before, and then usually a few hours later, my phone will get blown up with all of the text messages that were not received before. I have tried powering down the phone, removing the battery, and restarting it, but that makes no difference. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Thanks in advance for your time. |

| give VZW a call and maybe there's something going with your account (rule that out before dealing with the device)?
I frequently get multiple instances of the same text message from t-mobile numbers (2 of the same text message in a row).

| Since my original post, I have started receiving text's again. I think I have found what the common issue is. As I stated before, whenever this happens, it will last for a couple of hours, and then all of the text's that were sent to my phone (while it wasn't receiving text's) are delivered the the phone at once. Here is the interesting part....everytime this happens, someone has sent me a text that is longer than 160 characters, therefore it's delivered in 2 messages. It seems that whenever a "2 message" text is sent to me, the phone stops receiving text's for a few hours. It lasted about 3 hours today. Anybody else have this problem?
P.S. I also get the duplicate text's alot. That actually used to happen to me on my old E815 too. I'd be pissed if I didn't have unlimted text messages. Anyway, back to the topic above.
Thanks again guys. |

Thanks again guys. | Have you given them a call to find out what it actually is happening? I have heard of the duplicate message issue, but never of the spotty receiving thing your experiencing. |

| it's something that you have probably narrowed it down to what may be the cause.... honestly (we have had this "discussion" here before) if you have more then 160 characters to say to someone else just call and talk that way :}

I have called Verizon, and they don't have a clue why it's doing it. They're going to "check into it" Ha. |

| This happens to me also, I have a black Q. I called Verizon as it just happend again yesterday and they couldnt find anything wrong, like i assumed they wouldnt. They asked if I do *228, I told them i do it every week. They requested I do one then while on the phone, then sent me several test texts and had me send myself some test texts. Of course I had already got my rush of missed text from the past 24 hours so i knew things were up and working. Thing is none of my missed texts were longer then 160 characters so i cant say that is the problem. I think it has something to do with verizon or possibly the phone. I have no idea what it is but i dont think the size of the text matters, at least not in my case. Very odd though and i dont see this issue getting solved since it usually corrects itself by the time I call verizon. |

| me too... I just experienced this issue last night. It was QUITE annoying.... I just got my (also black) Q last weekend and I don't recall this happening ever on my LG VX8100 whch is the last phone I have been using... before that I was using the Treo 700w.. this happened sometimes with that phone so maybe it's a smartphone thing?
I've noticed that I receive all the texts when I'm on the phone. Like this morning I made a phone call and was talking for about 10 minutes and in the first minute or so all the text messages came. I remember on my Treo I used to call my voicemail just so I could place a call so I could check if any texts would come in. Sometimes they did.... with the treo I just thought it might be because of the extra software I had installed including the threaded SMS program..
But with the Q I have only installed Notepad Mobile from Handango.
Edit: I don't know about the over 160 characters thing... I emptied my folders so I don't remember the last text I got before the flood came in.
I dunno... I have 8 more days to decide if I want to return it or not..
