Right now I have the Q pop3 account set-up for Gmail but its not working well. I don't get new emails on it. And yet they're not sitting on the web inbox for me either, or on my outlook. Its like my q is reading them without them being on the device--and when I do receive them I only get the header, not the full message. Should I try setting-up a different way? Wireless sync? Or just through the web browser on the q?
Ideally, when my outlook at home is closed I would have all new gmails pushed to my Q. What am I doing wrong? Thanks. |
Gmail can be a bit strange to setup. I will let you know what I have setup:
First, make sure on your POP settings within GMail you have it set to enable and have it set to either archive or leave in inbox.
Next, I have my Q setup for POP. There is a setting at the end of the setup that states whether you want to download the whole message. make sure that is setup correctly.
Third set it up in Outlook on your PC, However, in front of the username place "recent:" without quotes. This will allow Outlook to download all messages whether they were accessed via the Q or not.
What this does for me:
Outlook grabs messages when my PC is on, my Q does not get those messages. When the PC is off, the Q will get the message. By having recent on Outlook, my PC downloads the same messages when I turn it on so that I can archive. There is a downside to my set up. If I send and receive, the Q 'syncs' with the inbox grabbing new messages. This means that messages downloaded on the Q since the last sync are removed (they are no longer new). You can avoid that by putting recent: on the Q as well. You will just get duplicate messages on the Q and PC.
The other downside is that Google's POP will download sent messages as well in this set up. I have an Outlook rule that moves sent messages to another folder on the PC. If you use recent: on the Q you will get the sent messages and just have to delete them.
Hope this helps.
