so I bought a motorola Q from craigslist, and went into verizon wireless to change my v3m onto the Q... and they said that I couldnt do it because whoever had the phone before me had the phone deactiviated because they didn't pay, but their service wasnt cancelled completely because they still owe money. They really didn't give me very much information, but said that "after a while" it will be added to claims and I can add the phone.. but how long is after a while.. and is there anyway that I can get around this? i'm really disapointed that I have this phone and can't do anything with it.. is there anyway I can get around this or anything I can do?? please help...

that sucks!! im sorry to hear that...but since the phone has been labeled as such then i think you might be SOL until verizon takes that label off...or you could always return it to the person you bought it from (or craigs list) stating the phone is usless since he was delinquent on his bills....couldnt hurt to try

BellSouth pulled the same crap on me when I moved in to my house. The previous owner left an unpaid bill and I could not get a phone until I called the Bell Tower in Nashville. After sending a copy of the deed I got my phone.

This is a case of VZW being too God-like and not a consumer dependent business. This is totally wrong. I would suggest filing a complaint with VZW Corporate or the FTC. Contact your local better business bureau. You might be a small dog barking up a very tall tree, but I would try.

can you get your money back from the person you bought it from on craigslist? This problem should be his / hers before complaining to VZW. Then again, it's craigslist (ie, not ebay at least) and BBB can't do much when it's craigslist.
