Default PDATP Data plan question

Sorry if this has been posted before as I am new to the forums. Also sorry for the cross thread but figured my post should belong in the verizon page. Ive had my q since it came out. Just recently i replaced my q at verizon. I had hated the thing for the last year. (slow , always shutting off , buzzing lcd) but the new one i received is 10x faster and has no issues. I had disabled the internet plan because it was so slow but the speed of my new q has got me interested in this again. I was searching around and came across a thread that showed the following.

PDATP Plan includes the following:
  • $20 monthly access charge
  • Unlimited1 monthly kilobyte
  • 800 monthly TXT Message allowance
  • $.10/ message after allowance
  • 100/ mo PIX-FLIX allowance
  • $.25/ PIX-FLIX after allowance
Promo code is PDATP.
Your account will show as:
  • UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 (Verizon's MyAccount page).
  • UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 PIX $20 i(Verizon's Paper Bill).
I saw that verizon was cracking down on this plan for home use. I am not sure if I qualify for business. I work for computer sciences corporation and I have a discounted account through them. Would that go over well with the verizon rep? Im hoping it would as it would really save alot of money over the course of my contract.

Thanks for looking.

Dan

Dan,

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you but I do have a question.

How did you disable the data plan. Were you able to disable it completely even the $0.015/KB fee?

Please let me know. I want to disable the data plan for now and don't want to accidentally start the internet and get charged for it.

Thanks,

Jim

you can call verizon and have them put a complete block on the phone. i learned the hardway when the phone accessed the network on its own. had a 120 dollar bill for data. they split the cost tho.

Thanks for the reply.
I also found a registry hack that makes you have to enter a password before using the data features of the phone. This way you don't accidentally go on line with it.

If you're interested, here it is:

Adding Password Protection Before Using Data Connection

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\ConnMgr\Providers(7C4B7A3 8-5FF7-4BC1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA)Connections

If you want it to require you to put a password in when you login on to the internet d the following: inside the broadband and express folder change requirepw from 0 to 1, it will require u to put in a password.
