No Signal after call is ended - Motorola Q Forum

My Dad has been having a problem with his phone. He can be at work and has all bars but once he goes home, less than ten miles away, he looses all signal and cannot make a call or receive a call. He can talk on the phone all the way there, but once the call is ended, the phone no longer works. Is there anything I can do?

...but the samething happens when i go to my parents house. as soon as i walk in the phone dies...but i get perfect reception anywhere around the house but as soon as i go in it dies and so does my battery...i just have to turn it off

So all he has to do is turn it off, then it works fine? Or turn it off and forget about it?

what i do is turn it off and forget about it...
my parents are talking about getting an antenna for the house to see if that works...but as far as a solution there really isnt one
i suppose he could try to update his tower info by pressing *228 then option 2
that might help

I have heard about the updating using *228 but what is the option 2 part?

option 2 is to update the tower info

He has updated the phone three times with no success, and has used another Motorola Q at the exact same place and it worked like a champ. Is this a problem you have ever experienced or heard about?

if another worked then i dont konw what to tell you
but in the situation at my parents house i know that NO phones work there...so if just that phone he has doesnt work then there might be something with that individual phone...perhaps have him contact vzw about it

yea he might get a new one but give vzw a call and see what happens
