However, from what I keep hearing this was a deal with BB and verizon. As such, Verizon will not be lowering data. I hope I am wrong.

A rate drop would be great, I might consider data if they do. I'll try to contact themabout it when I have time.

Question

am i missing out here? i pay ~$70-$80 a month..

450 mins unlim IN blah blah - 39.99
NO data package (i dont ever use it) even though i get $5-$10 "usage charges"
Unlimited IN MSG camera - $15
1 ringback - .99

...whats not adding up here? does the Q really require a data package for being a PDA? verizon's getting me angry... somebody calm me down

Yes it does require a plan. I am on pay as you go.
You have to have a program that is connecting you.
Unlimited messaging is 10.00 a month for pix and sms including 500 out of network messages.

no no i know you "should" have a data package for its "random" connections it frequently makes. is it really necessary? whats it connecting to for $8 a month? u know what i'm saying? i check my tasks as frequently as i breath... no pmsnserver and do 0 web apps or surfing... fustrating.

i pay $15 for 1500 txt messages and and the unlimited IN... i have the $15 package instead of the $10 on purpose.

There is a hack to disable the phone's data, as long as you don't use mms, or you could have Verizon put a data block on the plan.

If I remember correctly from the last discussion on this topic, Verizon said that they were offering a lower data package to BB customers because you must purchase unlimited data with the BB. Since Windows Mobile users are free to opt out on data usage, they don't get the price break.

As for the pricing, if you have an individual plan, you can get it bundled ($109 for unlimited "email" data and 1350 min). This means you are paying about $29 for data under that plan. If you have a family plan, you have to buy the data plan a la cart which bumps the price up to $45. I have been complaining about this with Verizon for years to no avail. So, I won't hold my breath on a price reduction.

Instead, I contacted Spectec a while ago and asked if they would consider introducing a miniSD wifi card with a microSD card slot. They said it's in development. Should be available in about three months. So, I won't have data plan for too much longer...

I have a normal spectec wifi card, wifi is nice, but doesn't work when moving, so no google maps and bluetooth gps for nav. Also, wifi uses a good bit of power.
