Default New Policy? - Pix/Flix Messaging from MotoQ

Hello all, I just got a MotoQ with Voice, and a "pay as you go" Data (due to the retailer saying that I really CANT get no Data)

Reading through the forum, I've found that sending MMS (Picture/Video) messages will charge me Data Usage.

With two calls to VZW, both reps have told me that there is a new policy that they will not charge me data usage anymore (Something about it starting since Jan 2007) and will only charge me Airtime and out of my "Text Package"

Can any other of the people who are "IN" (VZW Employees / Others who have gotten their bills) verify if this is true, and I can use my SmartPhone like the other phones for Pix/Flix? Or are the phone reps giving me bad info, and I'll find a large data charge on my next bill?

Thanks!

um im not sure if that is infact true with the Q. as far as i know picture messaging on the Q is through data usage and on other phones its part of the text and picture package. now you certainly dont have to get any data package if you dont want...you can just call them up and cancel the data package and have them put a block on it and your done. your bill will be really high if you do pay as you go, because i also believe that it pulls from your phone minutes...

my VZW plan has the $10 / month for unlimited IN text / pix / flix (500 messages outside VZW) so my messaging comes out of my $10 / month bucket.

i wonder how it works with the pay as you go plans?

That is correct. If you send an MMS you will still see a data charge. @ $.015/kb a maximum message of 300kb has will also charge you $4.50 of data if you do not have the data plan. Also if you do not have a messaging package you will also receive a $0.25/message charge. So it has the potential to cost you $4.75 a message.

ouch! thank goodness for the (almost) unlimited data plan. I don't know anybody that has had a data plan that wasn't unlimited that didn't get one of those bills that after you read it you started looking for everything around your house you can possibly think of to pawn off on ebay. I didn't know that about the MMS messages, that just makes it more necessary to go "unlimited"

There seems to be a problem with getting the right info out to VZWs customers. Abd, that is a corporate Americaq problem, not just VZW.

Just finished going over my Feb-Mar bill. Sent out a few Pix messages, and I was not charged for data usage, it was just taken out of my text allowances. Don't know how/why everyone else is getting charged data usage. I should also note that I have pay-per-kb (changing in May to "Unlimited" Data Plan) instead of an actual plan.
