$200 is a bit expensive for me. I was hoping I could find it for around $150.
Here's another question for you. The main line on our account is eligible for New Every Two, but like their phone and don't want a new one. Could I use this discount towards my line? Kind of like buying it under theirs but activating it under mine? If that's possible, is it possible without having that phone around? Our main line is currently on vacation. | Quote:

When I access My Account by logging in and choosing Upgrade My Phone (I'm eligible), the Q9m shows as $249.99 with $50 mail in rebate. No $100 online discount. Why is this?
2 online chat reps from Verizon couldn't figure out why. One gave me the number for the web sales department and they couldn't tell me why either but I have to call back again. |
It's probably because your number is not the main line on your family plan. Only the main line gets the New Every Two upgrade price (i.e., the $100.00 off), while the secondary lines only get a small, if any, discount. Your account information will show that you are eligible to upgrade your phone (hence the link), but you won't get the bigger discount. However, it may be possible, with the main lineholder's permission, to transfer the New Every Two discount to one of the secondary lines, but I don't have any input for you on that. |

| Right, I realize only the main line is eligible for New Every 2, but the Q9m's page says it has a $100 online discount, which I don't think has anything to do with the New Every 2 discount, as new Verizon customers looking at that page wouldn't be eligible anyway.
Thanks! |

Basically, new Verizon customers get the $100 online discount (because Verizon wants new customers), and so can the main line on your family plan with the New Every Two discount (because Verizon wants to offer perks to its full-paying customers), but secondary lines don't get the same preferential treatment (because you're not paying full price on your line (it's only $10 per secondary line on a family plan, isn't it?)). The new customer ordering from the website gets a $100 discount (framed as an online discount), while current customers paying full price for a line (like single lineholders or the main lineholders on a family plan) also get the same discount (framed as New Every Two). No such luck for secondary lines. At least, this is what I was told before I left Verizon. |

The reps I talked to said everyone should get it by ordering online, they just can't figure out why it's not showing up once logged in. |

| I'm going to have to call the Verizon web number. The online chat reps tell me the price of the Q9m is $149.99 ($249.99-$100 online discount) minus the $50 mail in rebate and any NE2 discount I may have.
That agrees with the info under Verizon's smart phone page.
However if I log into My Account, all other phones and smart phones still have the online discount, EXCEPT the Q9m. Instead it is $249.99 with the rebate. Online discount is gone. One rep suggested it was for new customers only, but every other phone and smart phone shows the online discount. Only, of course, the phone that I want has it disappear. |

| just call them and be very polite....
i called and got the phone for 50 bucks after the mail in rebate...here's what i did...
i told them that if i go online, most of the phones have a $ 100 online discount...for some reason, the Q 9m does not have the same discount..it's like a glitch on the site...
i said i went into the store, and the reps said that the phone should be eligible for the discount...
i also said i've been reading on a motorola website that people have been able to call the national hotline verizon number, and were able to have that online discount applied to their purchase...
the person i spoke with was very cooperative and gave me everything i asked for...
in the end, the base price was 250..he gave me th 100 online discount.. -50 for new every two, and the -50 mail in rebate... came to 58 with tax... |

| I got a $100 rebate and an advance device credit which made my phone free (but that offer might have been a Christmas season discount only).
I always try and buy my phones around that time cause the companies offer really good deals then. But, really, these kinds of deals pop up all the time. More and more with smartphones because the companies make so much money on the data plans.
Incidentally, I've been with Verizon for 6 years and I already had a smartphone with a data plan when I got the discount.

| Is the $100 online discount that you called to get different from the "Advanced Device Credit"? The lady on the phone said that it means ADC when it says Online Discount. I don't think that's right because even the regular old phones have an "online discount", and they definitely aren't advanced devices.
Guess I'll have to call back and see if someone else will give it to me. I don't want a data plan (other than the pay as you go one with a data block on it). |
