I may be wrong too. If your plan is 70.00 or higher on the main line you can upgrade after a year at the two year price without any credit discount.

I am buying a Motorola Q from a friend tomorrow for $40.
It comes with an extended battery, case, and charger.

I want it mainly for the qwerty keyboard for texting and for some apps/games I can install from the computer.
I will sign up for per KB charge and block data because I will not need internet, email, or picture/video messages.
I want a qwerty and the env is too expensive, and the u740 is too fragile imo.
(BTW im on Nationwide, let me know if that affects anything...)

Questions:
- Is $40 a good price?
- Can the phone stand up as a calling device/mms device only?
- Can anyone tell me any BIG gripes they have with their Q?
- Is it easy to find apps and put them on the Q?

(FYI I will not use data in anyway. I will only call and text so don't try to convince me to get a data plan; this is cheaper than all other qwertys right now)
FANTASTIC PRICE!
those are the exact reasons i got mine
and hey i LOVE it, everyday im hacking it to customiz3 it more and add more games, its really fun
if i were you id buy it
i got mine or 71 dollar all it had was the phone and the battery, not even a charger

$40 is a good price. And a far better option than any regular phone (envy, voyager, glyde) if you want a capable contacts list, calendar and such that you could sync with PC.

That said, I have to warn you: I also got the Q with a firm intention to use it just as a phone with QWERTY and PDA functionality, and signed up for pay-per-KB. After playing with the device for 3 days, I was signing up for unlimited data. ($20/mo with my corporate discount) I swear, you can feel the Internet calling to you when this thing is in your pocket.

I actually gave up on the Every-2 discount and moved to the annual upgrade... Cell phone technology changes too quickly to be stuck waiting 2 years for handsets. I would rather pay promo prices and upgrade every year than wait. That's just me though.

I think it should be also mentioned that Verizon offers many employee discounts. Ask your workplace about what kind of discount they give... My employee discount allowed I got my Q for significantly lower than the promo price.
