$40 is a good price. And a far better option than any regular phone (envy, voyager, glyde) if you want a capable contacts list, calendar and such that you could sync with PC.
That said, I have to warn you: I also got the Q with a firm intention to use it just as a phone with QWERTY and PDA functionality, and signed up for pay-per-KB. After playing with the device for 3 days, I was signing up for unlimited data.
