| Moto Q / Q9m, few questions. OKAY. I am back.
I wound up not getting the phone because the rep talked my mom out of it. But, I'm back.
Now. I have a few questions and concerns, and then I would like your personal opinion.
.. Let's just begin.
For one. Let's settle the whole data plan crap. I have unlimited text and pix messages on my Samsung Alias. It costs $20 a month. Now, I'm not interested in paying the $45 a month for the data plan. SO. If I get the Moto Q/Q9m, then can I do the 'pay as you go' and block the data? Data is only MMS and transfers? I will still be able to send and receive texts (sms)?
Also. What phone do you say? I'm not running a business, I don't need a word compatible phone. I don't need any of that jazz; i'm not going to be transferring any data. I'm simply a teenager wanting some hot PDA that can send texts, and call my friends. With that being said.. I know the q9m appeals to teens more.. But, I like the classy look of the Q. Is the Q all too bad?
If you were in my teenage shoes. What would you do? Would you get the classy Q? Or is the q9m SO much better, and so much more worth the price?

You might want to wait for the Q9c that's supposed to be released by Verizon very shortly. It has that "classy" look you are looking for. It is almost identical specwise to the Q9m, but it will work with VZW Navigator for GPS. They keyboard is also much better on the Q9's versus the Q1, and you would have the option of using a miniSD wifi card for data (they don't work on the Q1's), if you need data and you have access to a hotspot. As for the data plan, you can get VZW to set up a data block, or you can choose pay as you go. If you want an unlimited plan, they also now have a cheaper $29.99 plan for smartphones now, if I'm not mistaken.

.. Something like that? I dunno.. It reminds me of the q9m, which isn't all that attractive.
I'm fairly.. boxy. xD. Land rover discovery, 2000 edition. Moto Q, straight lines. Ya know.
And, $30 is not too shabby. but, eh. I doubt the mother will budge. But, I can block data and still send texts, right? xD |

As for the look, I just meant that the Q9c doesn't have the bright red stripe all around. Lots of ppl swear by their Q1's (never had one, so I can't say). Guess it will come down to the other items I mentioned - keyboard, wifi, WM6 v. WM5, etc. |

And, honestly. the red stripe isn't all that bad. It's not bad to be a v-whore.
As for the hatin' on the q1s.. I think it does come down to the wifi and stuff like that. Personally, the keyboard doesn't phase me. It looks good. And, I text over 15,000 times a month. I have the alias, which the keys are LAME. And, I manage amazingly. I don't mind any keyboard (beside the enV, That's just lame). But, yes. I think all of the "bad reviews" are from the lack of business crap that the "normal" PDA user would look for. |

| I had a q1 and replaced it about 6-8 times over the year I had it. I've had the q9m since August and haven't had one replacement.
Although I am a business user a lot of the problems I had weren't "business" related. They were OS issues. WM6 has been a lot more stable for me, at least. |

BigRed has several "smartphones" and they all do what you need. I think you'll find the biggest difference is WindowsMobile OS is much easier if you use a windows PC. But if your used to Palmcrap then you could choose a smartphone w/that on it. Otherwise, pick one that will get you the ladies and you'll be all good! http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...da+smartphones |

Ahh. They just released the q9c. It looks really bad. :x It's like a cheap version of the q9m. :x
And, what is 'BigRed'? |

| BigRed.....Red....Red = Verizon.
I recently was in the same situation. I was trying to decide if the Q9m was worth the cost. I'm a teen. I was sick of the verizon UI. Don't want to pay $30 for data. I just wanted to send texts, call, and have set massive bubblebreaker records ( ). I ended up getting a Q9m so I could do the occasional wifi via a Wifi Minisd card. I don't get pics messages, but I knew that before I bought it. After selling my env and getting the Q9m, I was $120 richer anyways so I can't complain. I found it for cheap so it made my decision that much easier.
To me it sounds like you would be fine with a Q. I don't see why not. I'm really happy with my Q9m so far. I think it looks better without the "buttchin" of the original Q. The red stripe doesn't bother me much. And I'm not sure how much "better" the keyboard is because I haven't used the original Q much to compare it. I have a friend with a Q. She likes it a lot. Another friend liked my 9m so he's bought one too.
