Is the Data Plan a must with the Q?

So let me get this straight. I currently have the unlimited text/picture message on my plan. I just switched to a Q today and have pay as you go data usage. If I do not use any data features, I will not be charged additionally for any picture/text messages, correct?

Unlimited Text, Picture, Video & Instant Messaging

And its only data when you send the pic to lets say an email address, then it would be considered data.

I am using my Q9m with a pay per kb plan. I send a few pics and even a few ring tones to other cell phone numbers and I have yet to be charged. The txt and pics don't sweat.

Now, you better call VZW about IMs, those are free IF you are using Get It Now. The Q does not have Get It Now. Again, you better call VZW about IMs and the Q.

I get charged for mms about a dollar a month every so often, even with a messaging plan. DON'T USE IM!!! IT USES DATA AND YOU WILL CHARGED UP THE WAZOO!! Someone out here thought unlimited nights and weekends meant that for data as well and had a 5200.00 bill. Verizon met him halfway on it.

I just got off the phone with VZW. RECEIVING MMS MESSAGES DOES NOT COST YOU! Period! TXT/PIX/FLIX does not cost above what ever messaging plan you have. If you are having problems with being charged for PIX/FLIX, you need to call VZW and have them check the usage. They can tell if it was PIX/FLIX or data usage. CALL THEM AND ASK!

What you need to know...when you press the Internet Explorer button on your phone, VZW knows and chargers. When you press the send/receive on your email accounts, VZW knows and charges. When you press send on a PIX/FLIX message, VZW knows and does not charge. CALL THEM AND ASK!

If someone thought unlimited nights and weekends, then he just might need to have his head examined for not understanding just what he was doing. Seriously! YOU need to understand what you are doing. Furthermore, you need to know what you are and are not paying for.

I cannot stress enough that YOU, the consumer, are responsible for knowing what you wireless plan covers.

I have to disagree with you to a degree. In the past verizon always charged for data when sending pix. They are getting better with it and they aren't supposed to, but they do. You can call up and argue it and they will credit you, but they are banking on people not doing anything.

That's cool Tony. I've got no problems with disagreement. VZW is getting better. We can't keep holding the past against them. We must move forward with them to make them a better company than they were 5 years ago.

The most important thing is that the consumer BE INFORMED. That is the best thing about eQ. It helps keep the consumer informed.
