I read up a little on these recently and the only things found were some cell phone booster/repeaters to handles homes and businesses in weak signal areas and they were priced $350 to $500.

Is this what you're looking for? If so I'll try to dig up the threads/sites that I was reading. I had not found any inexpensive solutions and external attennas won't work from what I've read.

Got this info from Spotwave, a reseller of cell signal boosters being sold here on everythingq.
Dear Ben
You are correct - Verizon is a dual band provider therefore our Z1900 would not work appropiately for you in your region.
Our Z1900 is a single band - broadband - 1900 mhz (PCS) system for only the carriers that are highlighted in green on our webpage.
We will be coming out with a Verizon home unit however I do not have a launch date at this time.

I have used these units in a couple of small offices -- they work great...

My wifes parents use a booster (they live in a very rural area) and it seems to give thier Alltel service a bit of a boost. I haven't noticed a real change in my VZW service when we visit. It also cost them about $400. Let us know if you find a reliable booster for VZW. I think there are lots here who would find it useful.

These are junk! Anyone that knows anything about antenna theory will tell you the same - you need to add a combination of dB's and power to actually make a noticible difference.

If you are really serious about a booster look at the following (they are not cheap, buy you asked for a solution and not to pinch pennies.) You'll also need a good antenna.

Shakespeare makes one as well.

I have a Digital on my boat and the difference is significant.

You sure can, but don't waste your money on a 0db (unity) antenna - you'll need at least a 3db to help JUST A LITTLE. Because of the SAR issues, a CDMA (Verizon) phone transmits at less then 1 watt (GSM is less then 2 Watt). (Heck, I can buy a FRS/GMRS two-ways with more power.)

Anyway - on the Verizon network, you are thowing your money away if you are in a fringe area with anything less then an amp. If you don't care about up time, then feel free to take your chances with just an antenna. Since you'll need an antenna anyway with an Amp - you can try to walk before you run.

I stand by my last post - you need a combination of Power and DB's to make a real difference.
