The way that the phones used to sync to exchanges servers was by sending a text message to the server, basically asking if there was a message. This counted towards your sms allowance. Since exchange has been updated, I think 2 service packs ago, this is no longer the case. The way you can get the sms2000 added is by pleading your case saying you have an exchange server with sp1 on it (there's no way they can tell).

I just checked my account online and it's called PDA SMS 2000 ALLOWANCE. Try asking for it like that. I would also search around www.howardforums.com a little for it. If I remember correctly they had the actual code number to ask for there.

i said to the guy...its called PDA SMS 2000 Allowance
there was a pause and then 'i have never heard of this'

he then put me on hold for a few and said nothing like that ever existed

i tried the infamous code.. but in the end i got the free 2000 without giving the code..

yea i found the code on howard forums
its #70246

this morning the lady i talked to said i couldnt get it because i was on a family plan

the guy this evening couldnt even find it

i already pay 200 bucks for both my wifes phone and my phone with data and a 500 text plan...you think they would hook me up and save me 20 bucks!

maybe ill have luck another day

Default Unexplained minutes...

I just checked my use since the billing cycle started Monday. In 4 days it says I have used 143 minutes on my Q. I know for a fact I have not talked for 143 minutes. I called and the rep told me that probably when it checks email, it counts a minute or maybe 3. But since I have unlimited data, it will be sorted at the end of the month.

I told him I want to make SURE I am not going to be hit with some whopping bill, and he said sorry, he can't tell what my actual minutes useage is. I have a family plan, and in 4 days we are at 238 minutes of a 1400 a month plan. We have not changed our habits. I simply added the Q with unlimited data.

I hate it when I can't tell what I have used. Has anyone else noticed an increase in minutes useage ?

this sounds like what happened to me when my wife first got her Q
when i was setting up her account they removed my data plan by accident

i got a bill for 500 bucks!
then they said they fixed it...and i got credited it back...then the next month it was 600 bucks!
clearly they didnt fix it...took a while before they realized they F'd up and mixed everything up....
i got it all credited back and didnt pay it but atleast you noticed it right off the bat
what you should do is check to see 'who' you called...if you noticed a 30 minute call to a number you dont recognize and $ amount after its possible they are charing you pay as you go....
just keep on them!

I called, the first rep that I got knew exactly what I wanted when I said "I would like to inquire about adding the PDA SMS 2000 Allowance" -

There was a short pause, then he states "That plan has been discontinued, but it was grandfathered in for some people, let me check for you" -

Another short pause,

Then he says "Yes, here it is with a monthly fee of $0, and it is available to you" -

So he added it in, I then asked to verify that it is $0, and he says yes, then verified it was to any carrier, and he said yes, so then the call was over. -

With wait time before rep answered, the total call was less than 5 minutes.
