I had the same problem, tried calling VZW and all they could say was to go to a VZW coverage area and do the *228 and "reprogram" my cellphone (I needed a digital signal in order to get my service back), I had to drive an hour out of my way for that, so I don't know how convenient it would be for you if ther is a close digital signal or not. You may want to try and call them see if you get any better solution though.

Default Easy Fix

If you do the upgrade your phone will roam. Verizon Customer Service does not have the solution for this issue. You must request to speak to a Verizon Technician and ask he/she to walk you through a manual re-programming of the phone instead of the dreaded *228. This happened to me and I was successful in the re-program.

Hey man, you can manually reprogram the Q, you gotta do it a couple times, I forgot the programming codes to get into programming, without being at work to look them up, but i will take a guess for you, I think it was something like ##74663 send, or something like that, but anyhow i won't be back at work til wednesday to get those codes for you.....But if you can get to the service programming menu, you need to get to NAM1, and enter all 0's for the MDN and MIN on the list, a total of 10 0's. then press ok, and it will reset the phone, then go back in and manually do it again, except put your phone number in the MIN and MDN, sometimes the OTA programming *228 will work as well. I work for Alltel, but it should be the same programming steps. If the above code does work and you get to the screen that says enter security code, you have to enter 6 0's and press the ALT key before each 0. That should get you back online. Hope it helps.

This is what the CSR had me do. Now my phone works.

Thanks Everyone
