Default Give us roll over minutes PLEASE!

I really wished Verizon would do like some other providers and let us roll over our unused minutes from month to month. We are already paying for them and it's only fair to let us use what we've already paid for.

Now that I have that off my chest...I feel better.

Wouldn't that be wonderful. It seems like Verizon kind of hands us the shaft after seeing all the discounts and lower prices that Sprint offers.

Well, my in-laws are on Cingular and they have roll minutes. What they don't use this month is rolled over to the next month...now that's how it should be.

Verizon...are you listening

Unfortunately it is never gonna happen. I personally would prefer if Verizon didnt disable many phone functions.

sounds like vacation days everything, but over time, not all your days will rollover to the following year.

BUT I think the reason VZW doesn't have roll over is because they're the top dog with the top network coverage. Cingular (before they merged with AT&T and then became AT&T again, lol) probably came up with rollover to try and chip away at VZW. That's why probably Sprint uses gimmicks like 7pm start of nights or T-Mobile's insane number of minutes / messages: to attract customers.

If VZW suddenly lost subscribers and was regulated to the bottom of the top 5, you'd start seeing them come up with features like rollover or offering more minutes.

ROLL OVER IS A SCAM!

You come in. You only use 1000 Minutes. But Cingular says..."Hey, with rollover we can put you on the 1500 min plan and any minutes you dont use will just roll over!"
(Prices are guesstamations)
Well problem with that is for the 1000 min plan you pay say $59.99 a month.
The 1500 min plan is $79.99 a month.

Ok? you ask..

well..your paying 20 bucks more a MONTH for the higher plan but you get rollover..and youll never use those minutes to begin with. Ive seen cingular customers with 10000 rollover minutes. Its just a scam to put you on a higher priceplan to get more money out of your pocket.

I would not go so far as to say scam, but it is a marketing ploy. They do not let you change your contract midterm without an extension (like everyone else). So, if you end up on a plan where you have roll-over minutes all you do is continue to compile them. Here is the kicker, they expire after a year. So, if you are on a plan that gives you too many minutes, you never actual have an option to use the minutes because by the time you can change your plan, they have expired. It does work if you fluctuate a lot from month to month OR if you don't mind signing a new contract half way through to go to a smaller plan (of course if you do that they may wipe away your roll over minutes anyway).

Here is my general rule . . . cell phone companies will screw you one way or the other. ALL of them! So never be afraid of the cancellation fee and you have a lot more power. I figure one cancellation fee equals about the cost of one month or a month and a half . . . so I don't mind pullng that card.

ha, I'd say your "math" is pretty accurate, VZW's $175 cancellation fee would work out given my $79.99 (450 mins, unlimited internet) + $10 (500 MSGS) + carrier's rapist fees and taxes a month.

If I had to, I could easily justify paying the termination fee just to stick it to a retail CSR.

if you have the option on you account, vzw lets you prorate your cancellation fee.
