| Free data plan for 2 months So I bought my Q a few days ago on the NE2 deal. I'm starting to think that what the dude at the store TOLD me, and what I UNDERSTOOD, are 2 different things.
He told me that there was a $100 credit for signing up with the data plan. I told him I don't want the data plan because I couldn't afford it, either the $45 or the $25 per month. Now is where it starts to get a little fuzzy for me. What I thought he was telling me then, was that he would throw in the data plan free for 2 months so I could get the credit. However, looking at my new bill, and seeing the charge for the data plan, makes me wonder if either:
a) I totally misunderstood what he was saying, and really what he was saying was that by getting the $100 credit, I was in essence getting the data plan free for 2 months, or
b) He was purposely misleading in order to get me to buy.
I told him SEVERAL TIMES I ABSOLUTELY did NOT want this phone and the $100 credit if I had to pay for the data plan, even for 2 months.
Now, I don't want to pay for this data plan, and I am starting to not like this phone. I'm not even sure why I even went for this, since I have a PDA that was working just fine for my purposes, and in fact, I lost some of what I liked about my PDA by going with this phone.
I do know that I have a limited amount of time to return this phone if I don't like it. But now another thing I wonder about is, with the Q I got a free RAZR which I gave to my wife. If I return this Q, do I have to return the RAZR as well?
What do I do??? |

| what i believe he meant was
since the data plan is 45 a month and you are getting a 100 credit. in essence you put the 100 bucks to the data plan when your bill comes and its free since its there money |

The reason I THOUGHT what he was giving me was a free data plan was that I kept telling him I didn't want the data plan and I couldn't afford it. He kinda pulled me aside and whispered that if I didn't want to pay for it, I could just cancel before my 2 months was over and I wouldn't be charged for it. To me, that sounded like... it's free until then, if you don't want it, cancel it and you won't be charged. |

I had an identical experience to yours when I bought mine last year. I thought about getting something else... but now I think the data plan is worth the money...especially since the Q is just an overly expensive, cumbersome phone without its data connection. |

| So I went in to the store today. I decided that it's not worth it to me to have this phone I don't want if I have to pay for a data plan that I don't want.
The guy asked me what the problem was. I told him that I felt the salesman the other day was very dishonest in what he said, and that if he would have been more upfront, I never would have bought the phone. I was obviously upset but I was very polite to him. He went back and got his manager and I explained again what the problem was. They both said that there is no way in the world the guy the other day should have explained to me that way.
He said they were interested in keeping me happy and wanted to find the phone that would be a good fit for me. I told them originally the reason I went with the Q was for the QWERTY keyboard and for the price that I thought I was getting of $20. I explained that I didn't like the phone that much, but for $20 I could live with it.
Then they asked me what phone I did want, I said I did a LOT of texting, so they showed me a Samsung and the LG enV. I said really, I like the enV, but I didn't know that I could afford to pay the difference between the Q and the enV, which was about $80. They talked for a minute and decided to just swap the phones for the same price, and still let me keep the free Pink RAZR for my wife.
So in the end I got the orange enV and a pink RAZR for $20. Not exactly what I had in mind last week when I went in, but I feel that they went above and beyond what I was expecting today to make it right by me.
Thanks to everyone who responded. |
